This home wasn't a $400,000 home. Home prices include the home and the land. In this case, the dwelling itself was worth a little under $400,000. The land is probably worth $300,000-400,000. The home was what we call McMansions in these parts. They are rural urbanites with snowmobiles and boats.

whats the general area here?

So a few things... regionally, the price doesn't denote McMansion. I used to rent in Bernardsville NJ and 400,000 home on a small postage stamp lot worth another 300,000 would be a lower middle class home.

I'm just really surprised how people wouldn't mind discrimination by a group based on the estimated cost of their homes - or based on their income. A standard home for 200,000 in Roanoke VA is 1.7 million in the NY suburbs - especially in parts of NJ, my home state. I'm not for discrimination at any level for anyone. If there's a disaster, people need help no matter what.

I lived in Bedminster for some time.

We have a pretty financially stable life in my family. I think we've donated enough dollars to help the poor that if we were to lose our house and all our belongings we could get some kind of help. Otherwise, the minute we're back on track, **** all those Red Cross beggars during X-mass.
