Who do you think SHOULD win BEST PICTURE and why?

Avatar- Same old story in a new set of cloths, nothing really fantastic about it.

The Blind Side- Didn't see it

District 9- Great movie, loved it. Should be one of the top choices.

An Education- Didn't see it

The Hurt Locker- Didn't see it

Inglourious Basterds- Awesome movie, right up there with District 9

Precious- Didn't see it

A Serious Man- Didn't see it

Up- This shouldn't even be on the best picture list, it wasn't all that good in the first place.

Up in the Air- Didn't see it

Inglourious Basterds, because the Hurt Locker felt like an HBO Movie and not a feature film, and because I already saw Avatar when it was called Pocahontas.

The others are just great flicks to fill out the category, but not really to be taken seriously as the most original great film representative of this year in American cinema.

The Blind Side, are you serious?

Inglourious Basterds was just a fun, shoot em up movie, it was great.

I didn't vote because I'm torn between that and District 9.

Inglorious Basterds.

Avatar was good, but what it did to the minds of those over at the Avatar forums is repulsive. Some of them are clinically depressed because there is no Pandora (I **** you not).

Sick, sad people.

Avatar - Excellent graphics, but mediocre otherwise. Very derivative.

The Blind Side - Haven't seen it.

District 9 - Overrated.

An Education - Haven't seen it.

The Hurt Locker - Haven't seen it.

Inglourious Basterds - Excellent movie. Not quite what I expected from Tarantino, but excellent all the same.

Precious - Haven't seen it.

A Serious Man - Haven't seen it.

Up - Another excellent movie. Depressing as hell, but great all the same.

Up in the Air - Haven't seen it.

So of the ones I've seen it's a toss up between Up and Inglourious Basterds.

You should check out this thread:

what would you do if you were a na'vi? - Avatar-Forums.com

For starters the title of the thread is "What would you do if you were navi"

and the OP is "I would do every thin if i was a na'vi

i would give up everythin to become a na'vi".

You heard it. A person would give up being a human to become a tall and blue humanoid that expresses itself exactly like humans do.

What the hell?

Do these guys not realize that you can do almost all of that now.
This is one guy's answer.

"just run in the forrest"

Wtf man!

Most of these cats (no pun intended) are former WoW addicts.

The forum is really, really interesting. But not interesting like super bad-ass generals of history, but interesting as a midget with a tumor 3/4 the size of its body.

Who do you think SHOULD win BEST PICTURE and why?

Avatar - Good film. Visually stunning, but the plot was predictable.

The Blind Side - Didn't see it.

District 9 - Loved it.

An Education - Didn't see it.

The Hurt Locker - This is my pick. This came out of nowhere and blew me away.

Inglourious Basterds - In my opinion, pretty mediocre. I fell asleep watching it.

Precious - Didn't see it.

A Serious Man -Didn't see it.

Up - Great film.

Up in the Air - Didn't see it.

I cannot believe there is an entire forum that wants to **** the animated feline-humanoid from a movie. :doh

Avatar - Excellent special effects. Type of film to just turn your brain off and enjoy. (my pick from the ones I've seen).

The Blind Side - Didn't see it.

District 9 - Great SF. Somewhat predictable

An Education - Didn't see it.

The Hurt Locker - Good war movie, but no Saving Private Ryan.

Inglourious Basterds - OK movie, but I got board.

Precious - Didn't see it.

A Serious Man -Didn't see it.

Up - Didn't see it.

Up in the Air - Didn't see it.

The Hurt Locker gets my vote, but I think it will be a toss-up between THL and Precious. I'm surprised District 9 even made it onto the list.

Haven't watched any of these, but I voted for INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, just for the hell of it.

the only one ive seen is district 9 which i really liked.I havent seen avatar but if you watched titanic tonight would that really deserve the awards it got? what if die hard was on the other side?

Avatar - Great movie, it's a bit derivative but so is every other movie on earth. Should win.

The Blind Side - Sandra Bullock ****ing sucks and you can't make a movie about a football success story before the guy is actually a success.

District 9 - This was a legitimately great movie. Far more original than Avatar, but just overall not as impressive.

An Education - No idea.

The Hurt Locker - Movie was terrible. Entirely unrealistic and set up as basically a "woo look war is CRAZY! it makes people CRAZY! lets wrassel."

Inglourious Basterds - Brad Pitt is a taint.

Precious - Didn't see it, but they took a huge chance on this picture and I think that should be respected.

A Serious Man - No idea.

Up - Awesome movie, but kids movies just don't win.

Up in the Air - No idea, but Clooney is a ****eating douchebag.

Quoted for truth.

I loved District 9.

If District 9 wins? I will NEVER take the Oscars serious again. It was a crap film and it did NOT send the message they wanted it to send as it was just too damn lame to get that across.

Precious should win!

You take the Oscars seriously now?

The White Ribbon / Das weiße Band this was the best picture of the year globally. The Hurt Locker was excellent. The White Ribbon is nominated for best picture foreign. A Serious Man was not to bad either.
