"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I didn't know this, since he never had an accent in any of the movies I'd seen. I thought I was going to keel over when I heard that accent. Had to go take a shower and some me time.

Ha, that guy has my accent - ulster accent.

Theres 3 standard Irish accents, Ulster accent (Northern Ireland + Donegal, Liam Neeson has this), Dublin accent (annoying as hell) and the stereotypical Irish accent (the ones the leprechauns have in all the hollywood movies, Colin Farrell has this one)

That was tongue in cheek people.

Actually, the chinese language (Mandarin) is what drives me up the wall the most. I usually like accents and foreign languages, but not in these two situations.
A chinese speaking English is one thing, but Mandarin is a very beautiful language. If you actually understand it, it can be very Euphonious. If it sounds like birds cackling to you, imagine how non-speakers hear English.

A family friend who lived in the far east once described Cantonese and Mandarin respectively as 'a fight in the kitchen' and 'a child whining about something'. The latter sounding something like "Owwr-mai-eeuurrh."

Cantonese is the worst Chinese dialect. I'm being a classist, but there's a reason it's the language of the lower class and dockside workers. It's good for hurling insults and screaming at people.

Mandarin on other hand, I think you're doing injustice to. I don't know how people who can't understand it hears it, but I think it's sounds are quite nice.

Kelly McDonald is in the first minute or so, and further you care to watch. Clive's accent is great too.

I like Ferrell, but you nailed it!

Maybe you would know, being as you are in part of the world, what in the heck is Elizabeth Hurley's accent all about? I've never heard another Brit speak like she does.

I don't really care how non-speakers hear English as long as they can speak it well.

Now about this mandarin, it is most definitely NOT a beautiful language. They only shush, whine and cluck at each other, and it ought to be outlawed. Horrible.

Now German is a beautiful language. Very logical and great dialects.
