This sort of thing never happens in Japan

Orcas in captive? Sounds good.

As long as we can keep people like Kanye West and Carrot Top in captivity too. I'd like to see those creatures in a zoo.

Seriously, no, when you do this kind of thing, people get hurt or killed, then we say "oh this is so sad, blah blah blah."

I don't like it.

I believe with proper conditions animals can do fine in captivity. each has different condition that need to be met to ensure that the animal is comfortable and mentally fit. Theres certain animals that cannot be caged cause they'll just bash their heads into the cage until they die. These animals should be kept free obviously.

So you're saying we should ban zoos.

Nice.

Or...what's the expense of maintaining the breeding population of zebras, using natural grazing, to feed a pride of lions?

No, I'm not.

As far as I know, the well funded zoos take great care of their animals, as well as create exhibits that fit the criteria of what they need to be happy and healthy. Orcas are very large and need a lot of space. Nothing close to what they do in natural settings is possible while captive. They are not an "animal" that can be happily "caged."

So how can that be accomplish in an unnatural habitat??? The way whales do things and interract in captivity is completely different than in the wild.
No different than a created environment in a zoo, but admittedly if you create the kind of environment required it would be freakishly expensive.

He behaved like a wild orca would. They grab penguins and seals off the ice and dispatch them. Those are their instincts.

Who wouldn't go crazy when cooped up like that, anyways? The whole thing is horrible and incredibly cruel.

Not to mention that Orcas are Fing evil animals. Just like Raccoons.

Orcas are one of the few documented creatures that kill for fun.

I'm sure you all heard of the trainer killed by the Orca at Sea World in Florida.

What do you think? Is it okay to capture and keep these animals captive to entertain people? They live over 60 years in the wild, but they do poorly in captivity, rarely making it to 20.

I argue that no Orca should ever be captured again. Ever since I went to Sea World in 6th grade, I've always been opposed to keeping these huge, intelligent animals in small tanks. It's inhumane and cruel. I hated the Killer Whale show because it was cruel.

Wild animals shouldn't be held captive for the amusement of humans.
