Well I would say, maybe we could figure out how to actually colonize the moon safely if we need to.

If we really want to make an effort to expand, colonizing the moon is the next logical step right now, as well as exploring Mars more.

It depends. Would such construction be financed, operated, and maintained by the U.N., the U.S.A., a group of voluntary nations, or private businesses and organizations?

Colonize the moon to what purpose and ends? Are there resources to exploit on the moon? Do we need to live there just in case earth explodes?

And of course, we can't forget the politics/debates/wars that will go on over unobtanium.

I wish there was an option for, "Not yet..." Instead I voted, "No."

The truth is, a moon base is useless theres no scientific advantage to having a base on the moon except scientific prestige at having tons of money spent on you to do things you could be doing on earth.

Well, actually, there are scientific advantages to having a base on the moon.

    Low gravity environment.

    Minimal atmosphere.

And probably some other reasons we don't know about and won't until or unless we DO put a base on the moon.

Right, but in such a generalized query, you are expected to make a few assumptions. I assumed the OP was wondering if we should begin to establish a base on the moon in the next decade or two.
