One of mine always goes in alone, but I always go in with the other one.

If you don't mind my asking, how old is your child that goes in alone?

It's not about me thinking otherwise, it's about how cases like this makes one question everyone body no matter how remote a situation one think it is. If you don't take a chance with one doctor, why would you take a chance with two doctors? Just because something has a small likelihood of happening doesn't mean it can never happen.

    Frankly, nonpereil, you sound irrational.

Personally, I would not leave my son alone in a room with a doctor. EVER. If he was at the dentist's office as described by someone else in this thread, I could leave him alone if the set-up was like my current dentist's office--there are no doors and all the rooms are entirely open with people walking by constantly. But I would do that only if I couldn't be in the room (because there was no space, my son was uncooperative).

I have an almost 3-year-old little boy. He has gone to the pediatrician, the dentist, an ear specialist, and a heart specialist (they thought he had a murmur when he was born, but he did not), and at no time have any of these doctors asked to see my child alone. If they did, bells would have gone off, and I would have said, "I'm not leaving."

Have you left your child alone with a pediatrician or other doctor? If you answer yes, please tell us under what circumstances did you do this. For example, did the doctor ask you leave? Was there no room for you in the examining room? Did you need to make a phone call?

Nope. There has never, EVER been an instance where I was asked to leave either of my children alone with a doctor or other medical professional. Ever. That even takes into account a couple of ER visits for stitches and skateboarding accidents.
Fool me once, shame on you.
    Fool me twice....shame on me.

I would never let my kid alone with a doctor. Not for distrust of the doc, but for the kid's own feeling of security and my own knowledge of what's up with his/her health.

Kids are scared when they go to the doctor. What kind of parent would do that to their kid. That's ****ing stupid.

Friends and family members are infinitely more likely to molest your child than their doctor. Its irrational and unfair than one horrible man can besmirch the reputation of thousands of honorable professionals. I may be futile, but I'd urge parents to keep a clear head and not give in to media fed hysteria.

I agree for the most part. Clearly the people who post in here were doing these practices (not leaving their child) prior to this incident.

Thank you to those who answered my question. Since I know some of your kids are older, it confirms my thoughts that this is the normal practice (not to leave your child alone in a doctor's office).

I'd love to watch/read an interview with one of the parents who left their child alone with Dr. Pig. Why???????????
