Pot is a great pain reliever and it will not give you a hangover.

People who smoke Marijuana lack ambition, motivation, work ethic, and have issues with codependency.

I know two brothers who are the quintessential stoners. They are in there forties and live at home with there mother. They work menial jobs just to make enough money to by weed, beer and pizza.

[some] People who smoke Marijuana are ambitious, highly motivated, have a driven work ethic, and are extremely independent.

I know two friends who are the quintessential stoners. They are in there [sic] 30's and own their own homes, and one supports his mother. They are successful, one owns his own business, the other is a brilliant scientist with a masters in marine biology, they make more than enough money to by a constant supply of weed, beer and pizza.

I see a lot of people are saying not my concern well when these people get behind the wheel of a car it becomes our concern.

a couple of other things grass eats brain cells and like been leads to the use of more powerful drugs........

And there is every possibility that they may have been more ambitious, more motivated, have a greater work ethic and be more independent if they had not smoked.

That would be a bad thing. We have too many CEO's of big corporations already...

Dp me a facor.....No more emails from you telling me how Conservative you are my left wing friend..........I am not buying it............

I think you completely missed the point of my post.

We cannot make a call one way or the other on the evidence available, and it is inconsequential since it is purely anecdotal, just as is the post I was responding too.

Edit: And there is every possibility that they may have been more ambitious, more motivated, have a greater work ethic and be more independent if they had not ate all that pizza.

I think this is the second day in a row I have given you a high 5 Redress..:applaud

Myself, I probably miss out on bunji (sp?) jumping or sky-diving or motor cycle riding. But, the good news is, I am not interested in them whatsoever.

Are you insinuating our collegue doesn't partake in intoxicants out of fear? If he doesn't need them, desire them, isn't curious about them, and is having a good life without them, I say more power to him/her.

I think the smartest route is to avoid them altogether. Some folks can and some folks can't.

Can't miss something you never had I suppose.
Well, maybe not fear of smokin a little weed, but maybe a little fear of taking a chance or two. How could anyone read about mind expansion, and not even be a little bit curious, and have to try it at least once. Fear may be a little strong, maybe apprehensive would be better. I use to bang my self around pretty good in my younger years. Nowadays I just think back on it, and grin. But I do have it to think back on. ---that said, let me be clear, that I don't promote the use of anything, but I do believe in at least trying things before you condemn them. I ate octopus---once !!!

No, it's not. Firstly it's anecdotal. Secondly, the exception doesn't prove the rule... unless you can prove that it's not an exception.

At what point do excepions invalidate the rule? I imagine there are some like me who performed well under the influence. I know there are many others who performed well when not under the influence but would get high when the were studying or performing. To my mind there is a range of stupidity and performance associated with getting high. There are some things I will not do when high - any type of motor coordination including cooking and driving.

I submit that you are the exception rather than the rule. No one need educate me on the merits/demerits of cannibis as I have been a long time student of the substance myself.

Speaking for myself, there is a time and place for getting buzzed. Granted, it might open your awareness in a classroom where hightened awareness is necessary for the individual to keep up. But, across the board, I think it's safe to say that pot is no friend to study and comprehension and retainment of said studies.

For example, I just love catching a buzz and learning Pink Floyd tunes. But ask me a week later what I played and you'll most likely get a "duh..." :3oops:

My habit was Rush. But I agree...I cannot read when high.

I read all the f'ing time...and I've never been high.

I wonder if I would lose all interest in books if I became so, temporarily?

Just like people who drink and drive - yes. The penalties should be the same and you CAN be arrested for driving under the influence. Your point?

a couple of other things grass eats brain cells and like been leads to the use of more powerful drugs........

Alcohol does the same. Would you like to revisit prohibition.. we all know how well that worked out.

Nope. Don't drink, don't smoke, don't do drugs, never have, never will. Never needed or wanted any of it.

Try again.

I bet you over eat, eat crappy food or drink soda?

Or maybe you are perfect:roll:

No, his vice is that he DOESN'T do any of those things...

I really love how one person accuses me of doing something to screw up my body and when I prove them wrong, someone else pops up and says it's just because I'm afraid to do it.

No, I'm just not stupid.

And all people that smoke weed are not stupid either. :(

Then a lot of DPers can avoid that by not being stupid. Easy how that works.

Or you could try not to be so judgemental. That is pretty easy too;)

Maybe. I wasn't high 24/7 you know. I found time to read. One of my favorite pastimes nowadays, especially. I am only intimidated by the number of books I have lined up to read.

Judging is part of being human. I think terrorists are scum of the earth. Am I too judgmental? If there is one thing we should judge others on, it is their actions.

Actually, I think you are missing the point. Anecdotal evidence is useless, studies are useful. Studies show that marijuana use is harmful. End of story.

I smoke pot all the time and I'm quite intelligent - in fact, I find I'm more lucid when I write high as opposed to not.

P.S. - I'm going to smoke now, so my next post is sure to be a gem...:2razz:

you see I never argued that point, and was reflecting an anecdotal retort back at someone with another anecdotal retort rephrasing his words prior to you jumping in and going all attack dog for no reason.

studies also show pizza is harmful.:2razz:
