Conservative
I am doing kind of an experiment, in order to see what issues can be common ground to Conservatives of different persuasions. But first, I need to know what brand of Conservatism you wear on your sleeves. There is no right answer here, and this poll is also multiple choice, in that many Conservatives may feel comfortable in more than one category.

Please answer the poll to the best of your ability, and we will go from there. A good explanation of why you chose the way you did would also be helpful.

Thanx.

Quasi mix of a Paleo-Conservative and Libertarian leaning Conservative.

I am a fiscal conservative but I can swing left on certain social issues like abortion. In the end I am still a conservative even though I wear a moderate tag. I think most are independent or moderate and swing left or right depending on the issue.

Fiscal conservative and conservative-leaning social moderate. I'm willing to compromise on some issues, am entirely non-religious and pro-rational on all issues.

I'm a fiscal conservative and I also live my life, socially, pretty conservative as well. I do have my vices, however.

But my socially conservative opinions stop with me. I do not feel I have any place dictating my "morals" or opinions to others or expect them to follow my example.

When I conquer the art of walking on water then I will dictate to you people just how your are supposed to live. Until then, you're on your own.

I am fiscally conservative, and closer to libertarian socially (although I live my life personally conservative).

I favor small federal government, I have no desire to have Roe vs Wade overturned, on the drug issue, I'm okay with legalizing pot, but undecided on other narcotics- primarily because I don't want to be stuck paying for the care and support of drug addicts. (we already do enough of that with prescription drug use;)). I favor defense over offense, and tough reforms on illegal immigration.

God please don't feed it....
But it looks so hungry...and I actually want to know what thinking lies behind that statement...if any......

I'm a fiscal conservative. I favour a small government who takes care of the most important jobs. However, I'm not libertarian, because I believe government should have more jobs than protecting liberty. For instance, governments should make sure that the market runs efficient and prevent market failures. Government should provide good education for the cirtizens although we shouldn't prevent private schools. Government should help people who can't help themselves.

Fiscal conservative, pretty much (to a point) social liberal/moderate.

I am a Paleocon: Dunno...Maybe? Depends how you define it.
I am a Neocon: Dunno...Maybe? Depends how you define it.
I am a moderate Conservative, willing to compromise: I think so...
I am a Goldwater Conservative, unwilling to compromise: Don't think so...
I am a Tea Party Conservative: Don't really know what that is...
I am a Social Conservative: Not on most issues...
I am a Fiscal Conservative: Yes, I think so.
I am a Libertarian leaning Conservative: Yes, I think so.
I am a religious Conservative: I'm not really religious at all, or rather I don't really know if I am or am not...So probably no.

Hard to answer.

Paleoconservative, neoconservative... well perhaps I am paleo until someone says they are going to destroy us then starts refining uranium in a manner suitable for bombs, and building ballistic missles...then I'm a neocon.

Moderately conservative? On some things. I've come to the conclusion that a progressive tax is tolerable, as long as the progression isn't too steep and the top tax rate isn't unreasonable.

Barry Goldwater.... facinating chap. Different era though, things have changed a lot.

Social conservative? In my personal life. On certain issues, like gay marriage and abortion, I'm socially conservative. On others, like drug legalization, I'm closer to libertarian.

Fiscal? Yup, except as noted above.

Tea party? I'm not sure that the tea party platform has been sufficiently defined yet that I'd want to identify with them, though I have strong sympathies toward them.

Religious Conservative? Well I'm religious, and I am personally conservative in the religious sense. My religious views do shape some of my political views to a degree, but I'm hardly a theocrat.

Libertarian-leaning? Yes, on some things. I have some reservations about some of the ways Libertarianism is often applied/interpreted, but I think I'd prefer a libertarian gov't to the mess we've got now... maximizing personal freedom is very appealing. One problem I have though, is that I tend to think our current system is so incompatible with full-scale Libertarianism that a patchwork of the two would likely be unworkable: L'tr is sort of a package deal.

I suppose I'm an "Other", since you didn't include categories named "Complicated" or "Rootebega".

My good friend, radical attorney Ron Kuby referred to me as an "anarcho-capitalist"

that works. I tend to be more libertarian than anything. Maybe with a touch of objectivst as well. But I find some of the libertarians make mountains out of molehills too. I also find bible thumpers almost as odious as parasitic socialists and other wealth stealers except bible thumpers don't cost me wealth or the freedoms I cherish the most.

mostly:

Libertarian
Fiscal
& Other (strict constitutionalist/strong federalist)

Most of those don't really mean anything, except whatever you want them to mean.

To paraphrase Scott Brown, I'm a Dav conservative.

Domestically I am libertarian leaning conservatism more or less, and foreign policy wise I am a hawk, which makes me a neo-con as well.

Tea party, libertarian on most social issues, and strongly fiscally conservative.

I marked social, fiscal, and religious so I guess I believe in the old conservative values

Naw... you're too cool to be a neo-con. You can communicate without being a dickhead. That alone will cost you your neo-con membership card.

Where did you get these types from?

I consider myself a common sense conservative. I believe in government using common sense to make decisions. Spend money, don't spend money, go to war, don't go to war, raise taxes, lower taxes, more regulation, less regulation; whatever makes the most sense and will have the most positive effect on the country.

So you're not a conservative at all, you're a "do whatever feels right" centrist.

Other. I am a little of most of the choices, but I am first and foremost a constitutionalist(like that was a surpise:lol:). On fiscal issues I am not opposed to social programs being treated like investments since we are stuck with them atm., the idea is to ween people off of them and create taxpayers, intelligent ways of doing that are always welcome. I am not a fan of the Fed/IRS or many other forms of federal beauracracy.

Socially I could really care less what people do or believe as long as they do not infringe upon others rights or endager others. I think the states must be given their rightful powers back and that career politicians should be a thing of the past. I think the tax code should be simplified into a more consumption based system and that there should be one age for adulthood, pick one 18 or 21 and be done with it. Can't think of any others currently.
