I been thinkin about getting a little "reduction" work done my self. I'm tired of bruising my knees when I run. :mrgreen::shock::2wave:
 
Gender identity crisis is not a purely mental problem. There are physical, hormonal, and genetic reasons for "feeling like a (wo)man" when your genitalia represent another.

Someone who's case is severe enough to where a therapist prescribes surgery and hormone treatment, I don't see why not. Let the doctor decide is my default position on anything health related, since I've nowhere near the medical expertise to override them.

Some people do have reasons for feeling they should be the other gender.

Of course, some people are just crazy too.

For some people it is pretty much necessary for their mental stability due to hormonal and genetic abnormalities.

So If someone believed they were a duck then you should pay for their operation so they can have prosthetic bill,feathers and webbed feet? Or if someone has multiple personality disorder then we should pay to give that person multiple birth certificates,ID and driver's licenses? What if some nutjob thought he was a millionair should we give him money? Of course hypocrites will argue its not the same thing, but when they say we should allow a man to get his penis chopped off and a fake vagina added along with some fake breasts and some hormones that we should facilitate mental disorders instead of curing them. I do not want my tax dollars being used to facilitate mental disorders and pay for cosmetic surgeries.

There are no genetic or hormonal causes of wanting to be a duck. False equivalency. Someone can literally have female genetic traits while possessing a penis.
 
The government should only help people obtain the essentials in life - and how you feel with your woohoo or waahaa isn't one of those things.

No its not. Both are mental illnesses and you hypocritically arguing that we should facilitate one mental illness by paying for cosmetic surgery and hormones/drugs of one person who is a whack job but not pay to facilitate the mental illness of another whackjob.

Last I checked all males a xy chromosome,unless there is some there some abnormaility like de la Chapelle(xx) or Klinefelter(xxy) syndrome or xyy syndrom and still a lot of those cases males still act like normal males(except for the slow learning ability with xyy syndrome).

In my mind, I'm a beautiful 21 year old knock-out, therefore, the government should pay for plastic correction of my 52 year old reality.;)

Oh...there is the option where you personally donate your own money to a charity for the Sexually Confused Who Want to Play Pretend.

Taxpayer dollars should not finance medical care.

Should not the doctors then work out solutions to the genetic and hormonal problems of the patient so that they regain sanity and become adjusted to the body they're actually in?
 
It's far easier to stretch the constitution to say that it *does* cover these things - not the other way around - seeing as how 'general welfare' is in there :2razz:
