They didn't make a move why? Cause they'd have been thrown out maybe? In spite of sexual harrassment laws, men and women still aren't house together.

Because they're professionals, maybe. For the same reason male straight solders don't rape every woman they see. Or maybe that's the kind of caveman you want to see in our military, I don't know.

As far as living together, I've got zero problem with it. Let them. Side by side, in the showers, everyone equal.

In your post I have only spotted further claims that it has happened, and yet no reasoning as to what makes it correct. (that the world didn't end does not, apparently, make an event positive)

It doesn't need to be made correct. It's just business as usual. It's just a shower.

Oh but I would love to take a shower with you, Winnb.

Just the thought of me and you naked in one small, closed room, as the water smoothly make their way down our bodies... makes me feel like I'm in Disneyland.

The military didn't need studies to know that, and neither did I.

Yeah, I'm sure you didn't need studies to tell you that the earth was flat either.

It's called common sense and I love using it all day long.

Common sense tells me that anyone who can continue to perform their job efficiently while being shot at can certainly perform at least as well having shared a shower with another person.

I find it natural.

Really? You find it natural to trust people to handle nuclear warheads when you can't even trust them to control themselves when taking a shower?

My ride's better than Disneyland baby. Hop on...

Then this is the second time so far when you are in the wrong.

At least as well seems to have a wide range of meanings.
It is the military's policy however, and it is common sense that sexual distraction is as bad as any other distraction.

No, I find it natural that people are being distracted when they are taking a shower with a naked person from their attracting sex.

Fine, let them serve, let them be soldiers. In the work environment it is different than in a housing environment, plainly obvious by the fact that women don't room with men.

Women room with men all the time. Sometimes they even room with men that they aren't even having sex with. It's not a problem outside the military. What makes military personnel so immature that they can't handle it?

So, you have some experiences with the lack of issue it actually is? (Unlike the scaredy cats who are afraid they might catch the ghey?)
We've actually made a lot of jokes about it, and yes, it was no issue at all, and I'll go on and call it a positive experience.

That's what I wanted to point out...that contrary to the big deal that is being made by some, it isn't actually that big of a deal in reality.

Do you know, what would we say to a man who said he didn't want to share a barrack with a negro? We'd say grow the f' up.

Have you shared housing with gay men?

My first roommate was (still is) gay. Oddly enough, she didn't try to hump me whenever I walked from the bathroom to my bedroom wearing just my undies, or sneak into my bed in the middle of the night.

Oh, and living with her didn't give me teh ghey, either. ;)

I've traveled extensively with two gay women. They've never tried to hit on me. I wonder if I should be offended?

p.s. You've probably been infected with teh ghey and don't even know it. Kinda like herpes. That's why you're so liberal.

Go on...

:2razz:

And one night, when I was wearing a fluffy little see through nighty, Glinda through a pillow at me, and so I threw it back, and right when it hit her....

......

most guys just fast forward through the dialogue.

Dear Penthouse:

I never thought this would happen to me, but.... :rofl

You mean you did need studies to tell you that the earth is flat? Those are some messed up studies.

It is the military's policy however, and it is common sense that sexual distraction is as bad as any other distraction.

Well, according to science, sexual activity correlates to an increase in performance:

"From a physiological perspective, having sex increases testosterone levels, which cause an increase in strength, energy, aggression and competitiveness," the study said.

"Conversely, not having sex for a period of a few months causes a significant drop in testosterone levels in both males and females, with the corresponding passiveness and decrease in aggression."

Sexual activity improves performance

You can just stick to your "common sense" if you like though.

No, I find it natural that people are being distracted when they are taking a shower with a naked person from their attracting sex.

Ok, so lets suppose that while actually in the process of taking a shower someone gets a bit distracted. Are you afraid they might forget to wash behind their ears? Oh noes!

Once the shower is over, presumably soldiers should have enough mental discipline to focus on the task at hand.

OK, let's take this one step at a time. Gay men, they are not women. Gay women, they are not men. Now, can you see why using men and women housing together is not a relevant issue to this?

It seems relevant to me. Men and women aren't housed together because they are too immature to handle it. If gays and straights aren't housed together, it will be for the same reason.

Gays and straits already are housed together, and so far, it's mostly not a problem. There is no evidence that this will change, and every reason to believe it won't. A fair number of other countries do allow gays to serve openly, and guess what, they don't have mass hysterics over housing.

And back in the days when women pretended to be men so that they could fight for their country, they were similarly housed with the men. It wasn't a problem then. So why do they now have separate housing?

That's a cultural thing, it's certainly not necessary. I'm sure there are plenty of military men and women who would have no problem whatsoever showering together and never get sexually attached.

From my time in the military we were 'young dumb and full of c..' :)

and we spent 50% of the time thinking/talking about/pursuing women

and the other 50% acting macho/getting into fights/ and looking forward to the next conflict.

Perhaps times have moved on :rofl
