The state wants people who can build guns and bombs, but who don't know when the politicians are lying to them.

    Perhaps I should rephrase.

"Actually, I think his point was that it IS in the state's interest to have an educated citizenry."

And that this interest is a negative thing.

    Not a positive.

Thus, his desire for some separation between the education system and the government.

But, I have no real idea as to what his reasons for the statement were - I'm just guessing.

using that approach, if we saw a deadly epidemic on the horizon, then the state, while being interested in mitigating it, would have no role in doing so

notice how that approach makes no sense. same thing if the state abandons an interest in the education of its people

    No.

    Again, you misunderstand.

I was contending that his post meant the following:

"The state is interested in educating its citizenry."

"But I, ronpaulvoter, think that this interest is actually in indoctrinating it's citizenry."

Thus the negative I spoke of.

As in, negative for the citizens.

Now, obviously I could be wrong about his meaning.

Every state maintains schools where interested people can get an education. The problem is, not everyone is interested.

and he is fulfilling his fiduciary duty in recognizing his responsibility to the union members as union president

do the union leaders in the auto industry have any responsibility to negotiate on behalf of the car buyer?
