Should the 2001/2003 GWB cuts be extended?

Should the 2001/2003 GWB tax cuts be extended for people that make under $250k?

Ever heard of deadweight loss? Thats what happens when you refuse tax cuts. Economically, its bad to have tax cuts, but its even worse to refuse them.

And yes, I understand what I'm saying, and I can't wait for you to start jumping up and down yelling, "hypocrisy by a liberal!"

You called it....I will just LMAO:rofl

You forget my left wing friend that long ago JFK cut taxes too...

Not near as drastic as were Reagans's tax cuts for the top tax brackets. JFK cut the top tax bracket from 90% to 70%. Bush cut the top tax rate in half from 70% to 35% tripling our National Debt.

I am waiting for these liberals to refuse their tax cuts but I won't hold my breath....talk is cheap.....

My problem is not tax cuts to the middle class, it is the tax cuts for the wealthiest that shift more of the tax burden to the middle class creating less wealth among the middle class which is harmful to our economy by reducing purchasing power of the ones that buy most of the products our companies need to sell to stimulate the economy and reduce unemployment.

I never understood what we call the trailer park Republicans that somehow think lowering taxes on the rich is going to help them some how.

I'm discussing what the OP wrote:

After reading the attached file in the OP - I realize that the OP should have written 'OVER $250K' - because, you're right, this issue is not directed towards people who make UNDER $250,000/year.

:dohI should have read the link thoroughly - 'cause then I would have caught the oops without being thrown way off.

With what's actually being proposed - no - I don't disagree with it on a large scale. there are some details I don't approve of in the attached plan, but those aren't pertaining to the tax-cut itself.

No problem, I've misread things before as well! :)

Oh.

You mean the Golden Shower Era under Carter, where businesses couldn't get capital because everyone was taxed too much.

Funny, isn't it, how the economy crapped out in the 70's, just (ahem) coincidentally after the imposition of the Great Society on a formerly free nation?

The Golden Era, our most productive period, was from 1950 to Reagan when our debt as a percentage of the GDP was never increased until he drastically cut taxes for the top tax brackets.

The economy crapped out in the 70's due to the debt of the needless Vietnam war and the oil embargo, but yet our debt did not increase as a percentage of the GDP until Reagan cut the tax rate in half for the top tax bracket.

Very much like it crapped out after W's unfunded wars and unfunded tax cuts to the wealthy.

Then you fail to understand the principle of Capitalism. You seem to think that businesses ought to just break even every year.

No one said the goal was to break even. The goal is to leave enough for the consumers so they can buy your product. It didn't seem to hurt Henry Ford's business! Ever heard of it?

Oh yeah, I happen to own one myself. But the point is, take for example, that Liberal bastion, the People's Republic of New York which has been consistently rated as one of the worst states to do business in. Again, business owners have to factor in the cost of doing business, and if that means layoffs, et al, so be it.

I was discussing the OP. Why would federal taxes affect NY differently than any other state?

I was discussing the OP. Why would federal taxes affect NY differently than any other state?

Because it factors in to the overall tax burden which is among the highest, if not THE highest out of all 50 states. Factor in that Downstate Welfare cesspool called NYC and you see why Upstate can never get any break!

Its amazing how left wingers like you hate our military so much that you even begrudge them a pension when they retire after protecting your ass for 20 or thirty years.....Don't worry you can begrudge us the measly pension we are paid for long deployments away from our families, 16 hours a day working we will still protect you.......

Translation: "I hate those 'failed welfare programs' and will bash Democrats for supporting them...but don't even THINK of taking them away from me."

Now concentrate like the good little liberal you are.....Whats tripling the ****ing debt is the spending by your sea daddy Obams who is clueless on what he is doing........

Here is a flash for you my left wing friend..I have never been on welfare and never would....

Navy, I haven't seen you say what tax cuts you support, so...

What tax cuts do you support? Which tax cuts are you against?

I support all the Bush Tax cuts and to use the Pay Go the lying dems said they would use.......

The ****en wealthy are the ones who pay the majority of the taxes..What paer of that do you not understand........

Navy, I think everyone has been pretty patient with you, but that is an outright lie. Stop wasting everyone's time.

Get a few more posts on your resume before you lecture me my rookie left wing friend Not....:rofl

Here is a flash for you, my communist friend: Social security and medicare ARE welfare programs. Or were you specifically talking about the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, colloquially known as "welfare"? That has a $2.5 billion budget...roughly 0.1% of the federal budget.

Economics fail.

Watch, he's going to completely ignore your statement because you haven't wasted as much of our life on the internet

For one see if you had ever been in the military you would know that a person in the military for making it a career a protectung your ass is promised free medical care for life.......

As far as SS I made other plans and never planned on getting it so if they took it away tomorrow it would not bother me........What I would love to see happen for them to take away your welfare that my taxes pay for......

And yet you support Medicare for *all* old fogies, and you are on record fawning over Medicare Part D, which you were certainly never promised.

Then why do you love it so much?

Huh, my welfare? You mean student college loans? Ya, who needs book-learnin' anyway. Back in your day you had to walk 15 miles to school, and you had to do math with a slide rule, right Navy?

The fact that you want to gut literally every single social program unless it personally benefits you is disgustingly selfish.

Did you fall overboard again sailor? Obama has only added 2.6 trillion to the debt, and that was to clean up the ****ing mess left by the last administration.

Btw, if you are truly interested in lowering the debt, why are you opposed discontinuing the tax cuts for those making more than $250,000?

If we really want to make a dent in the debt, we merely should return the Top/high Marginal Rates to Historic norms...
Forget those under 250k. They can have or not have the Bush tax cut renewal.

What's needed and reasonable Based on the historic norms Is higher rates on higher earns:

$250,000 ....... 40%
$500,000 ....... 50%
$1,000,000+ .. 60%

This would Seriously pay down the deficit but not hurt those who have to spend all or most of their incomes to live.

Also gets rid of the Idiot 'Pay Czar'.. and lets companies pay any Salaries/Bonuses they want.. Just Uncle Same/the Rest of US, get to improve our balance sheet and pay down the deficit.
Who cares what they make Salary//bonuses/etc if it's taxed 60%?!?
More power to them!... us.

Also the cap on Social Security contribution has to be removed, to pay for that entitlement.

this is idiotic

everyone should be able to keep the same percentage of the next dollar they earn. Your system is a major reason why we have a runaway debt--right now the dems win elections by promising the majority of voters that they can continue to have all their pork and it will be paid for by jacking up the taxes on the minority of voters who pay most of the taxes. The top 1% make 22% of the income but pay 40% of the income taxes and almost all the death confiscation taxes

we should have a system where YOU suffer MORE taxes at the same percentage as I do when there are tax increases.

Like most class warfare jihadists, you fail to understand that if taxes are jacked up on the smartest and most productive people, they engage in tax avoidance strategies that DECREASE the taxes they pay costing parasites big time. Remember the Moronic Clinton LUXURY TAX--who did it hurt? not the rich buying yachts--it hurt the blue collar people who built yachts
