    Hey Sgt,

This pole should have an option that states "Victim of Corporate Greed."

    Orrrr not.

Unemployed Student. Although I am going to start taking a bartender course soon and work at the school's bar. Hopefully over the summer I can get a part time job at one of the thousands of sports bar in Boston. Either that or find another nonpaying internship.

Tough to know how to answer right now. I am an employer, but have taken no salary the last few months so I can keep my employees going until business picks up.

I'm one of those worthless bastards who hasn't made a dime in months.

You're a decent human being, Gardner.

You are the kind of employer I would like to work for.

    God bless you!

I think you would be under the option "Employer that is willing to sacrifice his paycheck for the benefits on his employees." I hope when I get a job my boss is some one like you. I mean I feel I would work at least twice as hard to make sure my boss could get something in return.

How deliciously GREEDY of you. He should sacrifice his income so that you can have yours?

Currently employed, but looking for a new job, since I haven't had any projects at work for about 6 months, and things are starting to look pretty grim.

I disagree. Greed does not enter into the picture from either side. It's just fairness, and common sense.

I see employment as a two way street in terms of loyalties, myself. If I am to ask people to devote half of their waking hours to working for me, and not only working, but making decisions that are good for the company, then I also owe it to them by guaranteeing such loyalty will be reciprocated. The only cost to me right now would be to take no income for a few months, which I am able to withstand since my wife also works and we can rely on our home equity loan. The costs in laying people off, however, are that I lose valuable employees , lose whatever benefit I might derive from my sense of doing he right thing, and face the possibility of having to hire back MORE employees simply because I would be having to train them to get them to the point where they act as responsibly as the employees I have now. Mine is a small business, and since I don't have large number of employees, I prefer to keep the ones I have.

So you want to feel that you've done the right thing and you want the loyalty of your employers. It's greed. Greed may have a negative connotation, but everything that we do is about greed.

You cannot think of an action that you would do that does not somehow benefit you. When you donate money, it benefits you because you think to yourself that you've done the right thing. As Socrates said, no one knowingly does evil.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. Psalm 24
