Would a woman who posed nude win a senate seat?

Very doubtful, although Brown didn't technically pose nude, did he?

I guess there's a chance that a woman who did a tasteful non-nude playboy spread back in the 70's could get elected, albeit a small one.

It's also worth noting that Arnold got elected after showing a lot more than Brown did.

I didn't know Arnie posed nude. But the question still stands. Would a woman who did the same thing be elected? Or would she be scorned for it instead and made out to be some brainless whore for it? I'm leaning toward the latter, not that I agree with it though. I just don't see this country electing a woman who posed nude. I think they would rip her to shreds. However, a man doing the same thing and it's not an issue in the slightest.
 
Sexism is still alive and well. Though, in many ways, this is not a horrible representation. It's not news to anyone men are, for the most part, sexual deviants. ;)

Why then would they likely scorn a woman who played right into their sexual deviancy? Because you know they would! It would be men, along with some women, who would scorn a woman who posed nude and then dared to run for elected office. Even though those same men probably would go home and jack off to her pics after talking **** about her all day.

A lot of women are as well. It's just too bad that in this day and age, women are still held to a certain degree of disdain for exhibiting or even admitting their sexual deviant side; whereas men are often held to a differing set of standards. *shrug*

I really don't think it would be that big a deal (but maybe that's just the contrarian in me). What political opponent would dare bring it up during an election? I think the American people are remarkably forgiving about personal indiscretions in the distant past.

I think it falls into the whole "it looks great on paper, but..." category. I'm not trying to defend it, but as a whole everyone expects men to throw naked photos of themselves around. Not so much with women. Why? Who knows but reasons range from societal to truly biological ("who buys the cow if the the milk is cheap?"). I think, generally, it is something that's not entirely bad for women. Isn't it a good thing they would not be respected if they portrayed themselves as objects of sexual gratification?

You give and take. Women are held to "different," standards, certainly, but I don't believe they're worse. If, for instance, Brown had cried (e.g. Hillary Clinton)... Where would we have gone but down? I think there's different standards, which is sexism, but I doubt if they are utterly reprehensible.

I think that would hurt the fool who raised the issue a lot more than it would hurt the candidate who posed nude. I just can't envision an embarrassing picture eliciting much condemnation from anyone...not the voters, not the candidate's opponent, not even from the Christian Right. But I think that raising the issue WOULD elicit a lot of condemnation as it would be petty, misogynistic, and a cynical ploy for votes.

The voters can stomach a lot more than a racy picture.

Wow,... as much as I have despised the Clintons, democrats in general,.. I never referred to any of them as a "bitch."

That someone who I admire and respect as much as I do Sarah Palin can envoke that much hatred and animosity from you (or anyone) blows my mind.

I really, REALLY don't like her. But she was useful for good jokes while I was leading tours in Alaska!
 
Depends on the state and how strong her resume is. Better shot as a Democrat also.
