So if you just like a pick up truck you can't but it unless you are going to use it for work? What country is this again?
Having a truck is prudent for everybody because on those odd occasions when you do need to haul something you have the means to do it.
Now Obama came off as a elitist liberal by attacking Brown's choice of vehicle; as if that is any of Obama's business in the first place. Savvy?

Embrace the symbolism. Massachusetts is a primarily blue-collar Democrat state. Brown is a politician but tapped into that and convinced the state he was one of them, and not an elitist who will ignore the people's wishes. That politically played well in Mass. I think it's the same as tapping into something vacuous as "hope and change" and it worked.

It's smart politics. It got him in the door. Coakley is an awkward fit and there was something about her, and I can't pin it down, that I just didn't care for. Believe me, if Obama needed to get votes he'd send out every grass roots activist in D-Kal baseball hats, overalls and dirty trucks if it meant getting votes.

Let's see how much character and conviction he has when and if good 'ol Harry shoves 500 million in front of his fact and asks him to simply abstain his vote for healthcare, or change his vote. Then we'll see if the people's trust was well placed or not.

You missed the point and reason Brown won. The people wanted to send a message to the dems that they did not like the health care bill being shoved down their throats. It really is that simple.
Funny thing is, the dems are still in denial over the reasons Brown won.
I have faith in Brown that he will stick to his ethics and promises. After all, his name is not Nelson (D) from Nebraska. :)

I don't believe anyone has said one can't own the truck if they want to, regardless of why they want to own the truck.

Jokes that prove Godwin's law suck.

Sorry for not being politically correct. I'll go and see if I can find a hitler thread, instead of killing this one.

Being a humble redneck, I do not adhere to godwin's law.

I had a little red Ford pickup when I had a job drilling holes for soil and water samples. It had a toolbox. I was saving the environment AND being a man of the people!

I should have ran for public office.

I drive a truck
And if you don't like it
Who gives a________

There use to be a time where Americans valued men who never got their hands dirty(pretty much every President before 1910) but were intellectuals. Then they valued men who had both gotten their hands dirty but were of above average intelligence(Pretty much everyone between 1910 and 1970). Then Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan showed up and it all went to ****. Now we value stupidity and illiteracy. We ignore the works of Marx and Keynes, Shakespeare and Steinbeck because we'd rather have a guy with a subscription to Maxim. "Men of the people" is the reason this country has gone to ****.

I agree. I would be willing to bet you a week's pay [if I had a job] that not one school kid out of a million knows who Steinbeck is.

They probably think that Tom Paine and James Madison are motels.

Coming next to american tv. A reality show about people who drive pick ups.:doh

And there is that liberal elitist disdain for the common man again.

How does someone put 200,000 miles on a vehicle just "looking cool?"

My husband drives a truck, and I laugh at him because only girlies drive vehicles with automatic transmissions. :laughat:

Your inability to refute my point is noted. Now go play somewhere. Adults are speaking.

I like to see little bitty Wimens, drivin big manly trucks---nobody gonna push them around. No sirree.

Owning a pickup has more to do with a man compensating for a small penis.

Can't anyone at this forum think of a more creative rationale for anything and everything other that "He has a small penis, that's why he did it"

It's really no ones business who drives what and for what reason. Although when the subject is brought up, then this opens the door to capitalized on this opportunity for good or ill.

Well, of course. That's precisely why I drive a truck. :screwy
