So true. It is highly entertaining to make a comment in front of numerous people and having only one or two people laugh, and seeing the ones on the outside who did not get the joke fly through a predictable succession of facial expressions due to their exclusion. The follow up entertainment watching this develop is not to be underestimated. the sheer flurry of emotions from inquisitive, to confused, to realization that they are excluded and subsequent rationalization and dismissal with a shoulder shrug in the span of a second or 2 is just a delectable icing on the cake.

Then there is the instantaneous stratification of the social order that parallels all of this as well.

sarcasm is like heroin for those who think tangentially, since there is so much positive reinforcement from numerous angles occurring in such a short period of time.

No wonder there is a thread musing over whether it should be taboo, add it all up, and it starts to be abundantly clear, sarcasm should not only be taboo, but also be illegal.

    1) It wreaks havok on the emotions of those who do not get it.

    2) It disrupts social order

    3) It delivers pleasure to a few at the expense of others

    4) It possesses drug like reinforcement rewards.

    5) It discriminates against those who do not grok.

    6) WWJD?
