I can't even imagine why that would be considered racist

what about this?

i don't think so...but what was the awkard situation?

The drum banging in his ear.

But I don't really know if it's racist or not. Off hand it almost seems like it is; but it's from Australia right? Those people are strange to begin with. So who knows what the hell they're thinking.

The first one could be viewed as racist because the white guy is the only white guy there - claims it's "awkward" and then offers fried chicken to the black people around him stating it is "too easy". Those who don't see the racist element at all... exchange the KFC for Watermelon... see maybe a bit of it now? So I didn't see it as racist the first time I watched it, but I looked at it again 3 more times with a critical eye and yes, it could be construed as racist.

The second South Park --- it's more racist against the Chinese. Knowing the hisotry of the American Indian and how the Army and others infected blankets with Small Pox... I find it not racist to White Americans nor American Indians but a commentary on the slaughter of the native American people of this country. The Chinese could be a little miffed but then again, they're big boys and can take it. IT was funny though.

First off, it was filmed in a part of the world that doesn't have that stereotype.

Second off, I have yet to meet any meat-eaters in my travels who didn't like fried chicken. If you thrust a piece of fried chicken at me, I'd probably STFU and eat it too.

He was the only Australian supporter in the middle of a bunch of West Indian supporters. (for cricket)

There's nothing even the slightest bit racist about that ad.

It's not remotely racist but I think it's clear that there are people, especially in the U.S., who are ridiculously racially oversensitive, especially because there are spokesmen like Al Sharpton who make their money banging the "racism" drum and inciting people to anger over essentially nothing.

It's an Australian ad. This stupid stereotype about black people and fried chicken is only present in American culture. It does not exist anywhere else. So, in that light, the ad would certainly create a ****-storm if it was shown in the US where many would consider it racist.

Wait wait wait.... Are you saying there's a cultural world beyond that of the United States? Preposterous.

It's not racist in my opinion. The ad was aired in Australia and they don't have the chicken stereotype like the United States.

In the beginning of the commercial it said "Cricket survival guide".

If you know about Cricket, you know its a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG game. He was going to be stuck in that little "party" for up to four days.

It's actually a sports joke (note the different color Jersey he's wearing) that doesn't translate well to US consumers.

No racism there. However, as the OP demonstrates, imagination thrives in pure ignorance.

How is it ignorance on my part? I know the ad was made in Australia, that it was a Australian guy in a section with East Indies supporters and that as far as I know there is no racist stereotypes in Australia of black people eating chicken. Notice the top option is "Only in the US would it be considered racist".The ignorance is on your part if you assume that such an ad wouldn't be perceived as racist in the US.

I don't know enough about cricket to tell, really. I mean, it's possible. If that commercial was made about a local basketball game, and they purposefully only chose black people for their chicken commercial, then I would say it is racist. But if the teams are international then that situation could very well arise, and it wouldn't be surprising that every fan of an African team would be black.

I'm not sure I would go as far as racist. It definitely plays on racial stereotypes though.
