Can a people or nation be cursed by God?

No. People and/or nations curse themselves by poor decisions and behaviors which are destructive. It really has nothing to do with curses, and everything to do with how people think, act, and treat themselves and those around them.

That's not true. Jesus cursed Jerusalem for example. He stood looking at the temple and said, "See you not all these things. I tell you not one stone shall be left upon another." Of course about 40 years later Rome came in and dashed the temple to bits fulfilling Christ's prophetic curse.

Scripture says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."

It says, "The wicked shall be turned into hell and all nations that forget God."

If you don't believe the Bible, fine. But you don't get to have your cake and eat it too when it comes to religion. Either believe it all or deny it all.

If God is real and his Word is true then he absolutely does curse and bless nations.

He also forgives the penitent fully and restores the fallen gladly.
 
I chose the one that closest reflects my beliefs, "God is generally hands off (or something to that effect)."

However, that response implies a belief in what I assume is the Christian God. That's not true. I believe, like most people, **** happens. Sometimes it's good ****, sometimes it's bad ****, and sometimes it's the unbelievably tragic **** that's happened in Haiti.

If there is such a god that arbitrarily slaughters the already tortured (and torturous) civilians of Haiti as punishment for not abiding his rule, then f*** him.
 
I don't know how well an imaginary being can be at cursing a nation, but I'm going to say probably not that good.

I believe God can do those things.God has in the past mostly in old testament times. However if God still cursed people or a nation today for pissing him off then it would be a whole **** load countries and states being wiped out and or cursed by God nut just a few countries here and there. Roberson is a con artist probably trying to milk viewers for more money by claiming we need to give more donations so they can send missionaries and other things to help the poor people of Haiti whose government sold them out to Satan.

Maybe that's because the authors of the old testament lived in some pretty brutal times and the novel reflects this.

Before we ask if God can curse, just explain me this:
If God (let's assume He exists) is spiritual, then how can he affect the physical?

Do you propose that the two realms (spiritual and physical) are intertwined? How so?
 
This is ridiculous. Pat Robertson could have at least waited till they finish counting the dead before he started damning these people :roll:
