I don't like "jewed me down" or any other phrase that equates being Jewish with parsimony, cheapness or financially cheating. I've met enough people who use the phrases with genuine bigotry in them.

It's disgusting how many people have found it okay to tell me about how they got screwed in business because the other party was Jewish.

Even if the phrase is neutral to you, it doesn't mean that it is in someone else's mouth. You could wind up conveying an idea that you really don't intend. I'd suggest a different choice of words, honestly.
Good point. As the poll results indicate, a majority of people find the phrase offensive. Looks like it's better to avoid it.

What do you think of the phrase?
It's a term used to vent frustration, not express hatred of a group.

Jews like bargains, so if he's frustrated with everyone trying to get a bargain on his prices, the term actually seems quite appropriate outside a professional setting.

It's not something I would say while bidding for the job, though.

Well, of course. Everyone knows that the only people who like bargains are Jews.

And, two posts later, someone comes in to handily illustrate my point. Thanks Jerry! You're awesome as an object lesson.

It's just because those Orientals are so darn inscrutable.

    You're quite welcome

After reading the post on political correctness, I'm now more likely to use the term so as to vent frustration on political correctness

Spiteful and petty, yes, but I'm ok with that.

Exactly! They are all smiles, nods, and polite bows, meanwhile stabbing their hapless victims in the back. Totally unlike the noble Nordic peoples of the North!
