I am of the thought that you can still have a wicked sense of humor without having to bring race into something. Of course I am mature like that.
I'm of the mind that it is the people that get offended are the ones that keep racism alive. After all, if you show a bully that you've no interest in him/her then they will eventually go away favoring reactions more than non-reactions.

LOL M. Steele (RNC Chairman) said "Honest Injun" on Hannity. I imagine we'll be hearing more about that even though he didn't mean anything racial by it.

IMO, we have become overly politically correct.
This phrase (jew down) is just old common usage, I see nothing evil, bad, insulting about it at all. In another twenty years it may just die out.
Here is a novel idea.. How about just calling it trying to get someone to lower a price? What is so hard about that?

Not really. Sometimes you have to kick a bullies ass to get em to leave you alone which is why we should and do confront racism in this country.

Because humans have a fundamental "need" (for lack of a better term) to catagorize and make that catagorizing as simple as possible. For example "text speek". Instead of saying "laugh out loud" or "I love you" people have gotten to the point where they instead say "lol" or "I <3 U".

In my experiance (and believe me being the runt at all the schools that I went to gave me ALOT) if I tried to kick the bullies ass then 1 of two things would happen. 1: I would instead get my ass kicked. or 2: if I did happen to kick the bullies ass then the bully would bring friends next time around. My experiance taught me that the best course of action was to not give a reaction. That is all that a bully wants, is attention. Don't give it to him and he will go away.

Except you seem to be confused as to who is the bully here. YOU are the one spouting abusive language and feigning offense over minor things (for which you were not even present).

No one is hurt if people jokingly use racial slurs or stereotypes around their friends, whom they know won't be offended.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

I'm not Jewish, but I have Jewish ancestry.

I don't like "jewed me down" or any other phrase that equates being Jewish with parsimony, cheapness or financially cheating. I've met enough people who use the phrases with genuine bigotry in them.

It's disgusting how many people have found it okay to tell me about how they got screwed in business because the other party was Jewish.

Even if the phrase is neutral to you, it doesn't mean that it is in someone else's mouth. You could wind up conveying an idea that you really don't intend. I'd suggest a different choice of words, honestly.
    Eschew obfuscation, espouse elucidation.
