There is a similar phrase that is "I got gypped". It's refers to gypsies. Both are insensitive terms.

I am of the thought that you can still have a wicked sense of humor without having to bring race into something. Of course I am mature like that.
It is not like Kandahar is going around lynching niggas or running around kicking chinks. You need to calm down. I don't think Kandahar thinks his race is literally superior to others(Remember? That is what racism is). He's just not concerned about race to the point where he can use racial slurs and not do any of the other **** that actual racists do. Lenny Bruce would be proud.

Considering the number of Jewish girlfriends I had when younger, I tend to think of other things when I read the term "jewed me down".

Of course, I add the word "wildly" at the end.

It doesn't really bother me. There are ethnic idioms I use myself (Indian-giver etc.) that fall into the same category.

There is no intent to offend. Anyway it is a dying saying. It has almost got to the point it is a quaint saying give it another 50 years i probably will be considered archaic.

Man, have we ever changed! Twenty years ago, no-one would even bother asking.
IMO, we have become overly politically correct.
This phrase (jew down) is just old common usage, I see nothing evil, bad, insulting about it at all. In another twenty years it may just die out.

What do you think of the phrase?
It is racist in nature. I am not offended by it since I am not Jewist and I would not use the term. Sounds similar to the phrase "nigger rig" in which it is a phrase that is synonymous with "Jerry rig". Usually only racist use the term nigger rig and everyone else uses the term Jerry Rig. Which implies something that is fixed very cheaply or fixed with rigged materials that is not the usual parts used to fix that particular thing. An example of example Jerry rigging would be making a tattoo pen with a guitar string, bic pen, a motor and wires from a remote control race car and a bent spoon and some duck tape or electrical tape and some wires and a d cell battery instead of actually using tattoo pen parts.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

"Jerry-rig" is probably a conflation of "jerry-built" (shoddy, poorly constructed) with "jury-rig" (running repairs from what's available) Jerry-built dates to 1880's Liverpool, and a builder called.........Mr Jerry! Jury-rig is a nautical term. Neither has any connection to Germans or Jews.
