I'm highly offended by the phrase!
It's an insensitive choice of words
It depends entirely on the context
As long as it's not refering to real Jews
It's just an old expression that perfectly expresses its meaning!
It seems to me that the humor from racial jokes comes from the fact that the people KNOW that it's a stereotype. The target of the joke is the stereotype itself, as much as the race in question.

I can't. This is important.

Racial humor is NOT funny Kandahar.
"I am appalled that somebody who is the nominee...would take that kind of position"
"A court took away a presidency"
"...the brother of a man running for president was the governor of the state..."
It's horrifying because Trump is blunt instead of making overt implications.
I think racial humor is funny. And I will tell you why...
Because if we can't laugh at our selfs, we have issues.
I know the humor is based on stereo types. As we all know a little truth exists in every stereo type from the "redneck pickup truck" to blacks and "orange and grape" flavored anything.
If not done in a hurtful way it can be quite funny and even enlightening at times.
People take race way to serious.
