Sure, but I have to wonder if, from their perspective, the political advantages of prohibition roundly outweigh any question of pecuniary benefit.Quite the contrary, they have too much to gain. Just think about how much money our government would save and then earn in taxes. It is scary to think of all that money
The US government spent $15bn on the 'war on drugs' in '10. I'm not certain they could recoup that loss with legalisation; even via levying taxation. Prohibition is the cash cow par excellence, and the concomitant moral high ground affords one hell of a platform.
