Wow, that's a hardcore habit. What do you do for a living, drive truck?

    Never.

I used to listen to Sean Hannity a LONG time ago, but never could stomach Rush. I tune out blowhards as a general rule.

I listened as often as I could, which wasn't every day. I started listening when I was twelve, so that meant I could listen to the full three hours in the summer and hear the "best of" on Saturdays during the school year. I also set the VCR to catch the television show when it was on so I could watch it after school. Of course during college it was easier to catch more of the show because of the way classes fell.

You listened to talk radio at 12?

    Yikes.

I was too busy skateboarding and practicing my pre-teen angst.

I'm actually opposite. Limbaugh at least knows how to be a radio broadcaster and entertainer. Hannity just drones on for the full 3 hours about the same thing generally with his annoying voice.

I prefer to listen to his show when Walter E Williams is subbing, or that Brit guy whose name escapes me.
Walt is a good one, always has some interesting stories and thoughts. Makes me want to take a random mason class just to have him as a professor. The brit guys not bad either, been on a lot recently.

Ever since CBS radio flipped my talk station to sports here in DC killing the greatest radio show ever, my middays while going to and from lunch have been left in dissarray as its not just either political talk or sports talk. With the abyssmal year the redskins are having and the fact I have sports talk on as background noise in the office, I'll generally flip over to Rush occasionally while going to and from wherever on my lunch break.

So maybe a total of about an hour a week

I was a geek. I wanted to be an adult when I was a kid. Now that I'm an adult I wish I could go back to being a kid again ....

Yeah, I agree about Hannity. That's why I *used* to listen to him. I don't listen to any talk political anything any more. I read quite a bit but the radio talk has lost it's luster for me.

Hannity is nothing but a cheerleader. Rush is at least original, but Hannity has never had an original idea in his life.

    Re: Rush Limbaugh

I honestly think a lot of the people who dislike Rush do so because they don't give him a chance or the ideological divide puts them off. The later is a perfectly acceptable reason. If I were a liberal I would most likely hate him. A lot of people miss the subtle sarcasm and the intional tweaking he does. Often when a female caller gets on he asks them their name and he says "You know "______" is one of my top ten female names". I have heard him say that about at least a hundred different names. Also, when he calls feminists "feminazis" or he calls news women "info-babes" a lot of people get all bent out of shape and think it's sexist.

Not only do they not get the joke, but they don't get that the joke is on them. He tweaks liberals like that all the time. The people that get offended by it are exactly the kind of people he wants to offend and the rest of us are laughing at the joke and the people that are all sandy crotched about it.

If you dislike Rush Limbaugh because you have listened and just don't like the show, fine, but if you don't like Rush because of something someone else said or wrote, you might be missing out on something you would really enjoy. He doesn't just talk. His parodies are hilarious. Radio is still free. Give it a chance.
