Yeah, rush and dubya deserve to die.
I didn't realize daring to disagree was a capital offense these days. Only in statist left America I guess. Redress, F.Y.I. this is why you guys get blamed for this stuff.

What about that cat Noam Chomsky (?)? What if he got sick?

Or, better yet, that guy Hugo Chavez?

How 'bout Fidel Castro? C'mon. You guys over in the peanut gallery were doing cartwheels when that ol' bastard took a spill off the stage and turned over the power to his brother when he got sick. I bet you guy were singin', "Whoop! 'Dere it is! Whoop! 'Dere it is." (I know I was.)

Oh, I absolutely hate Chomsky, but if he got sick or died everything stops there.

Or, better yet, that guy Hugo Chavez?
As long as he keeps his crazy in his borders, not my business.

I don't wish Castro suffering or death, however I do recognize that after that legacy is gone his people have a chance at a better life. I would hope that eventually they would naturally lose power, but let's face it, that 'aint gonna happen.

I think your right. When someone that they view as really despicable croaks or at least hospitalized they will be saying good riddance or I hope he or she croaks.

Does this poll actually say "Is it okay to speak..."??

Is this a trick question?

How is it a trick question?

'OKay" would suggest something that is acceptable, while "Can" would suggest ability to do so.

Speaking ill of the dead is usually a direct result of the person's actions during their life. Actions have consequences. I see no reason to pull my punches simply because someone is dead. An asshole is an asshole is an asshole. A dead asshole is still an asshole.

There are a lot of poor people who love hugo chavez.

One of the best funeral services I've ever participated in was a Quaker ceremony. The guy who died had been a poet with mental illness. People were refreshingly honest about how difficult a person he'd been in his life.

It was a real healing ceremony for all involved. The guy had committed suicide.

There are always going to be people who love scumbags. Stanly Williams who murdered four innocent(notice I said "innocent" these people were not gang bangers) people in cold blood people loved him and for around 20-30 years tried to help him weasel out of his punishment. Nazi scum love Hitler. Poor people who are brided are going to love a scumbag.

You weren't alone in that, Cap. Rush was saying that over the weekend after Fidel got sick, all the white birds disappeared from the Miami pet stores. There wasn't a single white bird to be found in all of the greater Miami area!

Yep, it's okay to trash people anytime you want and for any reason you want. They don't even have to be bad or obnoxious. Even good people are fair game.

Is it okay to speak ill of those who are hospitalized or just died?

1,Its never okay to speak ill of those who are hospitalized or just died.
Regardless if it someone like Hitler, child molester or serial killer or someone else that there is a general consensus on that is a scumbag.

2.Its okay as long as everybody generally agrees that individual was a despicable person.
An example of someone everyone would generally agree was a despicable person would be like a mass murdering dictator, terrorist, serial killer, child rapist and etc.

3.Its okay as long as you think that person was despicable. An example of someone you think is despicable could be a politician, political commentator/pundit, political activist or someone who has wronged you in the past and this would also include those whom everybody generally agrees was despicable.

4.other.

I pick option 3.If you found that person to be so despicable why hold back just because they are in the hospital or just died? Does their injury or the fact they died somehow erase all the **** that person did that made you view that person as a scumbag? For example the only bad thing about Hitler killing himself is that we did not get a change to hang him ourselves.
you have to define "speak ill".

you have to define "speak ill".

ill in this case would be defined as a hostile or unkindly. I guess these can be example of unkindly words.

For a dead person-

good riddance to human garbage

glad he is gone

the world is a better place without him

I hope he died before spreading his seed

I hope Satan is shoving a pitchfork up his ass

I hope those 72 virgins that Akbar is getting is those ,Trekkie and starwars nerds Everquest and dungeons and dragons nerds

I hope he suffered before he died.

Singing ding don the mother ****ers dead in a wizard of oz tune.

I want to piss and or **** on his grave.

He deserved to die

Someone in the hospital-

hope he croaks

too bad his injuries were not life threatening

I hope he gets worse

I hope he suffers

pretty soon Satan will be shoving a pitchfork up his ass

Anybody know where his grave is going to be? we can charge people to piss on his grave when he is buried

he deserves to die

those aren't just "unkind words"....and i have to say not acceptable for me. better to just say nothing.

pointing out behaviors of sick or dead people is okay, though, as long as they are factual.

Even if it just someone totally despicable? Like John Couey(the guy who abducted, murdered and raped Jessica Lunsford)? He died of anal cancer before his sentence was carried out, saved the tax payers lots of money in regard to appeals and scumbag lawyers trying to help him weasel out of his punishment.

One person's facts is another person's fairy tale.

nope, sorry, facts are facts.

and of course i wasn't sorry when couey died, but i wasn't jumping for joy, either. as for his lawyers, they were doing their jobs, distasteful or not.

a lot of people make spur of the moment comments, and i have as well. :(

but somehow, i figure god (or goddess, or someone) makes things right eventually.

What goes around comes around.Besides there might some interesting people to meet there and a few decent places to eat at.

In Kansas? You lie sir. You lie.

...I debate topics...

If I may offer a bit of advise, debate is more fun when you participate more directly with the person you're debating. For example, the proper way to respond to a question is typically to answer it. Responding with additional fuzzy statements that don't in any way address the other person's requests for clarification kind of sucks the fun out of it.

I sort of suspect that your response to this post will be along the lines of "I like macaroni."

Exactly, that's why a lot of stupid people love limbaugh.

The problem I have with your idea of how to conduct a debate, is the topic changes from it's original Focus points, to attacks against the person making the statements. There is nothing personal to debate here. I don't know anyone on this Forum. And have nothing personal to debate them about. Once the conversation strays from the topic, and turns into insults and name calling, --then it is just an argument. And I don't argue. --I can debate, or I can fight--but I haven't argued in many years. We have a saying here, "Let the other guy tell his Lie, it doesn't concern you"
