I think that one study does not make something conclusive. More testing should be done to determine if marijuana actually promotes brain cell growth in a manner that is beneficial to us.

More importantly, if this chemical that supposedly causes brain cell growth-- if such growth is healthy-- can be isolated from the other, harmful, chemicals in the cannabis plant.

Don't know if it promotes brain cells or not but I do know if it does promote the growth of brain cells, it ain't the smart ones.

It also more importantly I think can increase mental illness and paranoia in those alreadly prone to those conditions. If you have a mental illness Marijuana will make it worse.

Intelligent conclusion, I agree to an extent.
I think this is possible, that the marijuana may have a positive effect, however remote.
The government should spend zero money in this area(testing). And even if marijuana could do this, I'd never use this crap, legal or not.
Other vote for me, I might sooner trust our government than a scientist, at times, either can challenge a fruitcake for nuttiness.

Mostly true, but there are a few parts of your brain that grow new neurons, like your hippocampus. When you learn new stuff (as opposed to refreshing existing knowledge) your brain stores it by growing new neurons.

Potheads with an agenda of wanting it legalized for recreational use under the guise of medicinal and beneficial use or the government who wants it to stay illegal?I hate to burst your bubble but neither source is unbiased, so neither source can be trusted to actually tell the truth.

I know as a former stoner myself you do not give a rats ass about hemp being legalized to make burlap feeling jeans or medicinal marijuana being legalized or the alleged study that pot helps brain cells grow. At least be honest here. You only want those things legalized for the following-

1.So you can try to grow pot hoping that there are idiots out there who can't distinguish the difference between marijuana and its industrial cousin Hemp that barely has any THC or no THC in it

2. You hope to get a bogus prescription so suckers can pay for you to get high.

3.To get recreational marijuana's foot further into the door towards legalization.
 
I think me agreeing with a jamesrage post is a sign of the apocalypse.
 
I want marijuana to be legal because I hate being a criminal when compared to cigarette smokers who are addicted to a far more disgusting habit. Brain cells or not, it's not dangerous compared to half the other **** human beings do.
