Is Christianity Political?

Is Christianity a Political Movement?

And you're still a Christian? Wow.

Yes, because I knew that Evangelicalism was not the core of the Christian faith. If I abandoned my faith because of them, then they influence me the same way they did when I was a part of their group. Evangelicals cannot define Christianity for me, my family, or the majority of the church.

Let me be clear...

I think religion is inherently political. Just go to the average church business meeting and you'll see what I mean...factions, politicking, lobbying.

Real faith, however, isn't political. It's deeply personal.

When I talk about Christianity, I am referring to the religious hierarchy and the religion itself, not the faith. Two separate things. That may help people to understand where I'm coming from.

I have to disagree with you. When Dav says political, I think he means in the wider country, not in and among people. Anytime people are together, there are going to be issues because people bring baggage. The reason Evangelicalism is so damn messed up is because those in it believe Christianity is an individualistic religion. It's not. It's a community one that must be walked out with others. It's not "deeply personal" only.

I cannot separate the church from "faith" because, theologically, it is inherently about said church, faith, and community.
