Cons: Needs to be more liberal on social issues. Don't Ask Don't Tell should have been repealed yesterday. Gay marriage should be instituted on a federal level, overturning any and all statewide Constitution bans on the practice. Would like to see our current National Motto ("In God We Trust") be replaced with the original one ("E Pluribus Unum").
More liberal? Don't you guys care about what the rest of America likes? We're a center-right nation, and Obama is already starting to alienate independents and moderates, and don't expect a Tea Party-Party to take votes away from the GOP, because, according to liberals, the Tea-party IS the GOP...

You guys are in for a huge surprise in 2010; you've been ignoring over half the country since the moment Obama took office. If Obama has any hope of retaining the White House then he better start moving towards the center and fast.

You seem to have misinterpreted this thread. The OP wanted us to individually grade Obama's performance, and I did just that. Nowhere in my post did I make the claim that I do not care what the "rest of America" thinks, nor the political lean of our country overall, nor anything about the GOP, tea-partiers, etc.

Regarding us liberals "being in for a surprise" come 2010, i'm assuming you mean the upcoming midterm elections, in which case I can save you the trouble of banging out some tired conservative rhetoric about how liberal politics is teh debil, ruining our country, or some other such nonsense. The truth is that i'll worry about the 2010 elections come election time in 2010. My primary concern is Obama and the Dems advancing the causes that me and "those other libs" view as necessary and productive, versus the ones that I disagree with.

So yeah, I need Obama to be a lot more socially liberal if he's gonna earn an "A" from me. As it stands now, he's a good solid A-.

I want the job to be done over there, so we can bring our men and women home. I'd really love to catch Osama Bin Laden, but I think he's rotting away in some cave somewhere, so i'll settle for a body. I do agree with his troop increase, but i'm ready for this war to be over, like everyone else.

    Re: Grade Obama so far!

    I gave him a "C."

I agreed with a lot of his elections platforms, notably global warming, getting out of Afghanistan and healthcare. However, he seems to be conforming too much and trying to please. We all know that's an impossible task. He needs to grow a spine, big time.

However, he inherited one hell of a mess, so I'm trying not to be too harsh. He didn't START any of the useless wars, let alone the decades of bank deregulations. I have never envied his position, that's for sure. I don't think Jesus would be high in the polls had he run and inherited the leadership of a country close to collapse.

Bottom line, it seems that MOST of the elected officials have forgotten that they represent "the people," rather than "big business and their crony lobbyists." Obama is not any different.

America is a center-right nation, that's just a fact, and you want Obama to be more liberal. Basically, you have no problem with the President ignoring the majority of Americans. Sorry, but that's what it is.

Also, your reference to conservatism is just silly. I'm certainly more socially liberal than Barack Obama, and probably moreso than yourself, so spare me the partisan talking points.

And yet, it is you - not I - who leaped into this thread taking issue with my position, that I personally believe Barack Obama needs to be more socially liberal.

If you are as socially liberal ('probably' moreso than me, as you claim) I seriously doubt you would have quoted my post and given a lame attempt at dimantling it. It is more likely that you would have at least agreed with something that I wrote, or at least sympathized with the positions. In addition, you felt the need to add 'spare me the partisan talking points'. Since my 'talking points' (your words) were unabashedly liberal, perhaps we can dispense with the smokescreening altogether. If you are truly more socially liberal than me, feel free to illustrate where exactly you are. Gay marriage? Don't Ask Don't Tell? Where, exactly, are you more socially liberal than myself?

Feel free to use my quotes in this thread or any other to show me where you are 'probably moreso' socially liberal than me.
