As opposed to France, Italy, Spain, Greece, and to a lesser extent Germany which have direct heritage in Romaic culture? Russia is in a class of its own in terms of culture versus Western Europe, with divergent interests and political alleigances.

Just because Ivan married Sophia Palaiologos doesn't make Russian culture any more Western European.

Its not geographically Western Europe so Roman heritage wouldnt change much either way.

There is an abundance of roman heritage in Russia, I allready showed you the connection between Cicero, the law, and the church. The orthodox church in itself traces its development back to the classical, roman period.

The question what defines european is not only geographical, unless you're debating about geography. In terms of geography, Russia is partly european.

Europe is a continent and if your in it, your European. There is no criteria that suggests otherwise which includes Roman heritage. I believe the term European is strictly geographical. And if any culture defines a European society its Christianity in general. Though a now cosmopolitized Europe is hard to define in terms of culture and society.

Asia is also a continent Kaya and if you're in it..., well?

I'm a simpleton, I googled Russia and found this on wiki:

The nation's history began with that of the East Slavs, who emerged as a recognizable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries AD. Founded and ruled by a noble Viking warrior class and their descendants, the first East Slavic state, Kievan Rus', arose in the 9th century and adopted Orthodox Christianity from the Byzantine Empire in 988 , beginning the synthesis of Byzantine and Slavic cultures that defined Russian culture for the next millennium. Kievan Rus' ultimately disintegrated and the lands were divided into many small feudal states.

Relevance? Besides, haven't you ever heard of Moscow referred to as "the Third Rome?"

Yeah, but that was a long time ago, and I mean a long time.

Now I'd call Moscow "the Third Mexico City".

However, it is evidence that the Russian Czars, beginning with Ivan III, considered themselves to be the legitimate heirs of Roman heritage as passed on from Constantinople, the "New Rome".

yeah, but the heritage ended with Mikhail Romanov who wasn't related to the Caesar.

Im not referring to Russia. Im talking about European countries with a lack of Roman heritage.

Your Asian. I dont know how it is in America, but Asians are Asians - not just the Chinese.

Seems soviet Russia was Kievan Rus' the II.

Luckily, China doesn't extend to Europe, because these discusions are wearing me out.

I don't get it..

Huh??? You need to explain that. Since Vladimir brought Russia into the Christian fold, the Russians tried to emulate the Roman Empire. They got waylaid by the Mongol Yoke, but Ivan III made a conscious effort to re-establish that link by marrying into the family of the recently defunt Roman Empire and declaring Moscow the Third Rome. So, to claim that there is no Roman heritage present in Russian history or tradition is based on historical ignorance.

In otherwords we are going to destroy this unique continent and its cultural values by mixing the once clean pond with immigrant terrorists and job stealers. Yay!

Seems we get less and less professionalized immigration and more and more backward thinking, extremist, pennyless mongrels who refuse to adapt to our culture with every passing year.

I think it can change from the current model.

Americans dont know s*** about European politics nor what is going on in Europe. Things are changing so fast that the last update the Americans got on the European politics, is that we got a common currency.

I am not saying Americans are slow...

New poll: who recognizes the profound irony in this statement, considering the source?

Russia. I don't care if it's part of European culture or not. Geographically, it's part of Europe as part of it is west of the Urals.

Interesting, considering that is coming from someone who never had a good argument.

I justifiably have you on ignore btw..

None as long as the decide to be oart of this failed thing called the EU when they decide to do this they threw out their power as a Country and till they decide to bring back their own Money and laws they are nothing but second rated political powers.

You are also on ignore. I dont remember why anymore.

Anyways.. Why do you say claim in your sentance in a very special type of phrase that the EU is failing?

The EU is one of the very few political hopes we have in this world. Certainly much more optimistic for it than an outdated US politics which is not about politics, but about clowning and the best methods to get elected.
