Nixon is great compared to our last few Presidents. If only we held the standards today what we held during his time!

Hell, the GOP of today would reject JFK as being too conservative, if his zombie ran for re-election.

Give em hell Harry(Harry Truman) that is.:2wave:The last President that spoke the truth. :2wave:

That's no surprise anywhere. Most presidential polls and historians put Washington, Lincoln and FDR as the top three, so FDR naturally should win the "Best 20th Century President".

Except for the fact that any poll that puts FDR as the best president is patently false.

Socialist Security going bankrupt is one reason to dis him.
The financial collapse of 2008 is another.
Until Obama, FDR was the only president to cause a depression inside a depression.
He stole the citizen's gold.
He raped the Constitution.
He betrayed Western interests at Yalta.

And sooooo much more that I'm not going to bother to list it.

Only Wilson keeps FDR from being the worst president ever, though some put Buchanan before him with some justification.

Thank you for your opinion, however mindlessly uninformed it may be.

S.S. has kept millions of elderly, widows, children and disabled off the streets begging for handouts. It is as solvent as the citizenry decide to make it.

Calvin Coolidge? Many believe that his policies laid the foundation for the Great Depression.

I vote for Theodore Roosevelt. He was a great outdoorsman who started the National Park System. Definitely a visionary.

i just noticed "cooledge".........

It does take a great deal of political acumen to compile a list of best presidents and then limit it to one party, you know. ;)

Is that why "other" is so popular?

Teddy Roosevelt is my hero because he believe that "government had the right to moderate the excesses of free enterprise." In other words, he was a Socialist, as that word is used by right wing whack-o-loons.

The Making of America — Theodore Roosevelt - TIME

You extrapolate 'Socialist' from allowing government to reign in the monopolies of big business? I suppose child labor laws are also 'socialist'. ;)

Some people are just lousy at making polls.

In my opinion, a good poll should give a balanced choice of options and the maker of the poll should not give his/her opinion in the opening post.

When it was formed, SS was for people who lived for at least three years over the life expectency at the time. Not sure of the exact number, but in the 1930s, for every person withdrawing, 42 paid in. Within a few decades it will be 1:2. I have no problem with the government assisting the disabled and truly needy, but retirement at 65 is going to have to be a thing of the past

Definately Taft.

He was the last guy real man to be president (ie Have facial hair).

Because he personally did more to destroy the Constitution and the chains which bound the government than any other president post or prior.

No, that was Lincoln.
