Where does Jefferson mention God in the DOI?

    Four times.

    Nature's God
    Creator
    Supreme Judge
    Divine Providence

Rather vague who's he's referring to aside from the first one which is pretty Deistic.

    The Declaration of Independence
They are all extremely generic...think higher power rather than any specific religion. Which puts Jefferson's views in line with those of the 25% of Americans who believe in a generic higher power versus a personal, specific deity.

It actually is true. Social conservatives and by that I mean the religious right have been 'fighting' for the last 40 years to overturn abortion and stop pretty much any serious attempt at providing gays the same rights as straights. Is it any coincidence that the highest rates of opposition to abortion and gay marriage come from states that aren't progressive? What have they accomplished so far on a grand scale? Nothing from their social agenda really. So what are they reduced to? Trying to stop Obama's health care reform plan because they think it will fund abortions. Which it will not. You get enough people to think they're fighting for a certain cause and you can slip your own agenda in. The religious right only has about 2 points on that agenda. Interventionism in the name of God and tax cuts. That's about it. Everything else is just trivial **** they come up with to make it seem like they have people in their band thinking.
Tax cuts is not a social issue, and has nothing to do with abortion and gay rights.

After the Stupak amendment or whatever that thing is called, nobody is arguing that Obama's health plan will fund abortions. They oppose it for completely unrelated reasons.

I don't really see what you're trying to argue here.

Noted, though the meaning of all those terms is up to interpretation. For instance, "Creator" could be something as simple as your mother. I'm not saying there aren't allusions to God, but I'm not sure he outright affirms THE God.

I really don't think, so it just that religious right is all bark and no bit imo. I have dealt with some that were just crazy asses. I do think man is indeed evolving to not have a need for religion, but I do think it will sill be around until I die at least.

He doesn't affirm any specific God. It is equally likely that he is talking about a generic higher power, Zeus, Enki or the Great Spirit.

The GOD referred to in the DOI was certainly not a deist's God.

You think that man will evolve out of the emotion of fear then? I think that there is a distinct difference between the idea of understanding that there is no god and the emotions of wanting there to be one.
