Re: Shouldn't Adults Getting a College Education Pay for it Themselves?
Yup. When I was an undergrad I had a double major in Physics and Chemistry and a triple minor in Math, Biology, and Political Science. (I had enough credits for an English minor, but the form only let you list 3) I think education is extremely important (and learning is fun). There are certain things I think that at a University should be stressed; Math, Science, American Government, and English being at the top of the list. People who go to a University should expect the most rigorous and difficult of all higher education, and at that level the education needs to be diverse and balanced.

Title 4 loans exit. They will continue to exist whether or not the far right mafia likes it or not.
Here is a suggestion: GET USED TO IT. |

I just find the system unbalanced. Considering how low the standards to get a HS diploma are, the standards for getting admitted to and paying for college in the US are strangely high.

Re: Shouldn't Adults Getting a College Education Pay for it Themselves?
I think college education should be free, but I just want to make a comment about how even in a selfish way, college education helps the taxpayers.
Even if we all have to pay more taxes for benefits for college students to go to college, the benefit of that commonly helps everyone in society much more then it costs in taxes. You will benefit from free college for adults by having more educated voters, more productive citizens that can consume more of your products, and you benefit from your company having closer intermediate industries with a domestic educated workforce instead of having them overseas. For instance, rubber and glass plant boomed around Detroit when Detriot had large car production. If you work as a car salesman, you will benefit from having more educated engineers in America to produce cars for you to sell. Also, people don't like to see the homeless around... and free education for adults reduces this. I am not saying that it is always worth it for the individual to pay for others to go to college, but without a doubt the system overall benefits us. |
