well China is still only like 4th economy in the world after EU, US and Japan

i have little doubt that it will eventually surpass US but that will take time. in my estimate 15 years.

Maybe if they gather all the intel in the world. And build outer space bombs. Calculate and take out all undesirables. Blame it on aliens.

What a strange question!
Pray tell, what event brings this on?

Obama isn't a American, he's a socialist. Real Americans aren't socialists.
People on the internet say the strangest things.
The truth seems to mean nothing. Intelligent men will read this drivel and walk away.
This "Scarecrow" is either a public opinion test thing or a complete idiot.

Yeah I am singaporean. He is a well respected statesman by the chinese leaders and the rest of the world. I heard abt that. He was just emphasizing the importance of US presence in Asia. China can pose a threat, so the world's policeman (US) need to pull up their socks to counter the chinese threat. So naturally the chinaman will get a little mad.

Thanks for your considerate reply.
What you said is right in some way!
However, China will not pose a threat to the world if it really becomes the next superpower.
This can be seen in the site where the starting post tell us, where many Chinese are discussing about the world issues, including China-Singapore relations.
Do you think it is possible for China to be the next superpower?

I would still really appreciate a link to the actual quote from Obama. A google search is turning up nothing, and your link is just to a message board where some one said he said it. Without the quote and the context, it is impossible to judge.

IMO, they are now, at least in the realm of material goods for us. But this does not seem to help the "man on the street", the average Chinaman.
And I have never been over there and know little of them. They are decent, honorable men, from what little I do know..We must study them, we do have a lot to learn, and they can help us, and us - them...Its the way humans should be..
This "superpower" business is just childish..

Why not.. they did it once before after all... well the known world :)

Until China's human rights issues are corrected they are not qualified to be a co-governor of anything.

China's involvement is offensive.

China supports the murderers in Iran; this is unacceptable. China cannot be allowed any consideration here. PERIOD.

For your info China is the biggest financier of US debts. Japan is the 2nd biggest financier. Obama bent 90% to Japanese emperor but Obama forgot to kiss the feet of the chinese president.

That is irrelevant. We're talking about their qualifications to be a co-leader. Not their finances.

As I know, lots of Chinese are decent and friendly, but there also are some Chinese who like money only.
I don't think China is powerful enough to co-govern the world with the United States now!

Guess you have not take history class? China was an Empire long before most European countries were even formed for example. They dominated the "known" world in almost all the same aspects as the US has done the last 50 years.

I guess that may be the time of Genghis Khan. He was a ruthless leader who later conquered China.
Although I don't know of the name the provinces of very early China. The first emperor of that time was into domination by force for unification. The concept or idea of cooperation hardly entered his mind.

The whole idea is nuts, why do you even entertain this ****?

Yes, you are right in some way!
But the news was from Xinhua, the most authoritative media in China.
As for that post, lots of people are debating over.
As an Indian , i have to admire Chinse people's cleverness.

Does China have the capabilities to co-govern the world with the United States?

US President Obama claimed that the Unitd States wished to co-govern the world with China. As for this statement, Premier Wen of China refused with three causes:

First, China is the most highly populated country in the world and it had a long way to walk to build a modernized country. Thus, China should keep awake time to time;

Second, China has been pursuing an ...

As an indian, i think it is really funny!

The real question should be. Does the US at all have capability of governing others, or even themself. OF ****ing course China has capability to co govern the world with Europe. The question is will the US also be co governing with Europe and China?

We are NOT discussing Europe in this thread. Cease and desist with your thread-jacking.

Man, your view is unrealistic if you exclude Europe. The world loves European style policies, and most people now hate American style politics. Also European econmic policies are far more influential, so is European spread of human rights, democracy and socialist-capitalism. Dont even pretend American wars and force ideology can compare with European global influence.
But, America have the capacity and the right ideals at the bottom to help co-govern the mess of a world with Europe, and China clearly have capabilities to co govern the world with their massive industry, and growing ideaological influence.

I personally believe more people will look at Chinese democracy in the 21st century than American democracy. A one party state where people vote on cases is far more attractive than a two party state where one vote on who makes the best show on tv, and have no say in cases, because most policies get implemented no matter who one votes for.

China has significant hurdles to overcome, their economy will slow as the population ages, horrible environmental problems, seccesionist movements in vital areas, the possiblity of future civil unrest, Taiwan, and the rest of Asia not being too psyched about their rise too say the least.

I know. My belief is that China by growing so fast in the beginning of the 21st century will become a totally different economy and state than Europe who was built for thousands of years and the US that was mainly built as it is in the 20th century.

I do see the significance of growing up with different standard technologies, just like I grew up with computers while my mother barely had colour tv in her time.

China has a long way to go before co-governing the world economically, they are a major player but still cant manufacture a car that is accepted in the States or Europe. They may soon though.

They are catching up incredibly fast, scarily fast. The build cars that are almost just as good as American/Japanese/European ones, but they dont pass European/American/Japanese regulations.
20 years ago, it was unthinkable that China could even build decent cars, or decent looking ones. India built a car powered by air by the way, I am sure China have done a lot of similar things that arent common knowledge.

Well yes, their economy is 'catching up' they are developing extremely quickly. It's still going to be a while before they can bomb any surface on the planet to earn co-governance though.
