Should the government inspect private homes to ensure safety for children?

They're starting a program in England to improve home safety for children, and prevent accidents.

Health and safety snoops to enter family homes - Times Online

Health and safety inspectors are to be given unprecedented access to family homes to ensure that parents are protecting their children from household accidents.

New guidance drawn up at the request of the Department of Health urges councils and other public sector bodies to “collect data” on properties where children are thought to be at “greatest risk of unintentional injury”.

Council staff will then be tasked with overseeing the installation of safety devices in homes, including smoke alarms, stair gates, hot water temperature restrictors, oven guards and window and door locks.
What's your opinion, is this a good idea?

Why do we even need parents anymore? The government just wants to do it all.

maybe the children would be better off without some parents. i could think of a lot of people that should not have children but by an act of nature do. it is a shame for those children really.

should the country inspect homes? no, that would be a violation of the sanctity of ones home rights.
The flame that is between us could set every soul on fire. I would love to take that heat and let's fill the whole world with desire.

And yet we incentivize the fornication between these people who are not prepared to be parents with welfare, public education, food stamps, etc.

Unless there has been some kind of complaint to the government that the children are not being properly cared for, the government should not be doing these inspections.
