Was it disgraceful when Reagan bowed to Queen Elizabeth?

Was it disgraceful when President Ronald Reagan bowed to Queen Elizabeth?

I think Fox secretly wanted me to post this pic:

Imagine what we'll hear when Obama does this.

Now THAT is a great picture! Thanks for reminding us.
Two powerful men hand-in-hand, smiling. That works!
Purrs,
Pookie

I searched "queen elizabeth vag" in the hopes of finding some humorous photoshop to assist me in making some sort of horribly off-color joke about what Reagan should have done, and one of the first results was a rapidshare download entitled "queen elizabeth - elizabeth vagina.part1.rar"

That's absolutely terrifying.

/off-topic

Definitely one of the classic .rar files.

I'm a little pissed that Obama bowed before the Saudi king. But seriously, I didn't think that there were any old farts still alive who would be prudish enough to get offended that he honored an old Japanese ruler. :rofl

Did Reagan in fact bow to the queen? When and under what circumstances? I haven't been able to find evidence of it, so I would like to know what the thread is about.

The point is that the people getting their panties in a wad about Obama bowing are giant, flaming partisan hypocrites.

So now that the mods are more likely to bad you fro bringing up Bush at evry criticism of Obama, you continue the same red-herring with Regan.

Nice.

It would help if you actually paid any attention to my posts rather then just assuming whatever you wanted.

I do find it interesting that the OMG OBAMA BOWED crowd has entirely refused to vote. Hypocrites.

OMG get over yourself.

And your opinion of Obama bowing to the Japanese emperor is?

I refer you to the 1908 olympics where one of our atheletes stated we bow to no earthly king.

I don't care who does it, its beneath the office.

Respect is not equal to submission.

I didn't see Obama tap out.

Are you familiar with Japanese customs? The emporer did not bow.... indicating his higher stature...

Obama's "saikei rai" inidicates maximum respect and being of lesser stature than the emporer....

The only thing he did not do is get on his knees for a full ultimate bow or a "za rei" but this was close.....

When he did it to the saudi king he insulted Islam....

When he did it in Japan he said "I'm your bitch"....

If you are using a falsehood in order to prove the point that you believe others are hypocrites, then you don't really want to know if Reagan bowing to the Queen of England is disgraceful, you merely want to smear others with whom you do not agree.

If Reagan bowed to the Queen (and it doesn't appear that you have any evidence), then yes that was disgraceful. Traditionally, American presidents do not exhibit symbolic submissiveness or subservience to any foreign leader. This country was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and we bow to no-one. Mutual respect is fine, and a nod of respect and slight traditional bow on the part of both parties, along the lines of Japanese culture, is fine.

I'm sure Japan is planning an attack now.

Yeah where is that evidence. I couldn't find it... was it made up?

As far as I can tell, yes it was made up. That being the case, I wouldn't vote in the poll.
If I remember correctly, there was some kind of flack back during the Reagan years about Nancy Reagan courtseying to the queen, and it was considered a faux pas back then. That is why I have my doubts about the original question as the basis for this thread.

I didn't vote either. I found the premise to be left wanting.

Not the point... No one should strive to look a "bitch".... especially when you are representing me. ;)

Believe it or not, it's arrogant and obnoxious to tell everyone that you are better than they are.

A truly confident man can handle humility. It's proof that you are grounded IMO.

Going to another country and stating "I am beneath you".... is not humility.
