I didn't realize thinking someone/something is "left leaning" is equivilent of calling them socialist now...since SgtRock said:

And frankly I agree to an extend with Sgt Rock's opinions here, and I split my time rather equally between CNN and FOX when I watch those kinds of stations (did CNN the entire time pretty much during the presidential election).

CNN leans noticably, but still relatively lightly, to the left. They seem like they try to remain relatively unbiased, but the natural tendancy of most of their anchors, strong personality opinion people, and producers seems to be left so it shows through.

FOX is noticably and decidingly right slanted, with MSNBC being their mirror on the left.

Both FOX AND MSNBC seem to be obviously catering to one side or the other while CNN is trying to play it down the middle, or what they view as the middle which is generally left leaning, as best as possible.

No, I don't think any of these are "propoganda" arms of a political party. I do think political propoganda in certain ways show up on all three, and as someone pointed out shows up in non-news, non-political TV entities as well (IE normal shows).

Is FOX news a right wing organization? Obviously. Is FOX news part of the republican party? Well, no. It would be an exaggeration to say it is a "propaganda beacon for the republicans".

No, they just have more conservative commentator's just as most other networks lean liberal in their thinking.

Gotta have at least one network that will give the other side.

So you advocate a Government Department of the News to monitor the news organizations and decide whether they are allowed to call themself a news organazation?

Wouldn't it be more efficient to just have the government own all news organizations so the good citizens of thje USA could be assured they were only receiving the true facts?

I refuse to accept the possibility that there are actually people stupid enough to buy what Fox is selling without realizing what it is. That's as absurd as eating at McDonald's every day and never having been told it's unhealthy.

I'd say yes, just as MSNBC has a liberal bias. All the media outlets are corrupt and push propaganda for either side. There are too many news shows that are opinionated instead of simply telling us what the issue is and what the opposing views are, leaving their own opinions out of it.

I'd probably agree with this. But doesn't it seem that big name Republicans flock to FOX just as Democrats flock to CNN or MSNBC?

No, Fox news is a company trying to make as much money as possible, and they've decided that reporting a conservative-friendly partisan view of things is the best way to go about that.

Re: Is FOX News a propaganda beacon for the Republican Party?

No, they're right of the "mainstream media", is all. I'm not even sure if they're "right of center", since the Fox news programs aren't especially biased.

However, unlike NBC, they don't put bombs in gas tanks to show how dangerous certain cars and trucks can be. Unlike See BS, they don't deliberately promote forged papers in an effort to influence elections, or announce that the polls in Floriduh are closed and then wrongly announce that - while the Floriduh polls are still open, that the results from Floriduh conclusively show for Gore (who lost that state).

No, they just cover news on their news programs, but they still have left wingers like Geraldo and O'Reilly, so no one can honestly claim Fox has a right wing bias.
