This poll is anonymous, and no one should read obscure motives into my posting, nor the responses.

I am curious about peoples actual, personal feelings, as opposed to the principles by which they live and act, which are often non-emotional, or at odds with their natural inclinations.

Frankly, the religion has no bearing (to me). It depends on what psychological method they use, and whether or not they are good at it. We all have our personal biases, and many of us can perform a professional job without letting our biases interfere. It all boils down to the individual.

No change.

There are 1.2 billion muslims in the world, I doubt their rate of people going nuts is any higher than any other race/religion.

More importantly: Would you trust a shrinking Muslim??? Or a shrinking Muslim population?

Would you trust a shrink, a Muslim, or a Muslim shrink?

Depends. I've trusted both of the former, at one time or another, and my trust was not proven to be misplaced.

In light of recent events? No.
I didn't know that guy.
The vast majority of serial killers are white.
I don't mistrust my dad, my kids, or my husband simply because they're also white guys.
That would be silly.
Andrea Yates is a white woman. That fact doesn't cause me to mistrust myself.

No change. My trust for shrinks couldn't diminish much more if it tried-- I'm working on that-- my trust for Muslims starts out the same as my trust for anyone else I don't know, and a Muslim shrink is still a goddamned shrink.

Everyone's an enemy until I know better.

What about my trust level for unmarried males, military personnel (esp. Majors), people named Nidal, people stationed in Ft. Hood, or slightly balding people with dark hair??

Would those be at all relevant?

If anything my trust level for a previously unknown Major that is an unmarried muslim psychiatrist, who is slightly balding and stationed in Ft. Hood named Nidal plummeted.

Any of the above descriptors individually.. no change whatsoever.

Or people with two legs? two arms? People with two eyes? Humans? People wearing fatigues? People in Texas? People wearing boots? People that drive a car to work? People that live or work on a military installation? People that use the restroom? People that eat food?

People...that....access the internet...

DEAR SWEET JESUS THE LIST NEVER STOPS! I CAN'T TRUST ANYONE!

My mom has a Muslim shrink and he has helped her a lot:)

No obscure motives? You're kidding, right?

To answer the question, my opinion on shrinks or Muslim shrinks has not changed, though I trust the ability of the military to screen folks, less.

Can't answer your poll yet. Still thinking about whether I would trust a Christian used car salesman right now.

I didn't even know about the phenomenon known as muslim psychiatrists until the recent shooting.

My ex-wife is a shrink. So, I wouldn't trust any shrink...lol!!

No, not really. I don't care what someones religion is one way or the other. The guy was nuts, end of story.

Many people in different religions and jobs are nuts. This is the exception rather than the rule.

So no change at all.

You know, my Dad taught me not to inquire about a person's faith when it was irrelevant-- but also to immediately distrust anyone who felt the need to inform you of it when it was irrelevant. Told me never to buy a used car with a fish or a Jesus bumper sticker on it.

Pretty much every used car lot in this town is either flying the fish or run by Gypsies, so I crossed my fingers and took my chance with the fish. Feel like I probably could have talked the dealer lower if I'd taken more time at it, but I think I got a good deal for what I bought. Time will tell.

I only trust non-psychiatrists who are uncircumcised, like dark chocolate, can do black diamonds, and prefer Guinness Stout, but don't drink it before 1 PM.

Stereotypes often have their basis in truth. not to say they are right but stereotypes don't just magically appear. People didn't just guess one day that black people love chicken, or fat white girls for their good credit, no. They observed an above average occurrence of these things event, i.e. Black on Chicken action or Black on Fat White Woman action, and thus the stereotype was born. Some people have a hard time shaking stereotypes because they don't break the stereotypical mold.

Would you care to simply call me a liar? I'd be interested to know your position in this matter.

Sometimes you just know when people have ulterior motives given their history on a website. Think Coon County.
