Firm opinions define character do they not?

Firm opinions are also the most brittle.

    It's a subjective question.

    Re: The Possibly Perfect Poll

I had a good idea for a perfect poll the other day. A reputable polling company puts together a list of 10 issues they want to get information on, such as the president's approval rating, people's position on health care reform, Afghanistan, etc. The company comes up with 5 different ways to word each question. Then, they conduct the poll over a short time period with a large sample size, rotating between the options so that they ask each person just one of the versions of each question.

I think it would be a great way to get a concrete look at how different wordings affect the way people respond, without any of the noise that we currently encounter in trying to compare those things across sampling methodologies or companies.

Interesting results so far. Talk about a uniform distribution. It doesn't get much cleaner than that.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. Psalm 24
"True law is right reason in agreement with nature . . . Whoever is disobedient is fleeing from himself and denying his human nature [and] will suffer the worst penalties . . ." - Cicero
