What do you think of the filibuster in the US Senate? Is it necessary or does it need to go? To those who don't know, in the US Senate you need a 60% majority to cut off debate and vote on a bill, whereas in the US House you only need a 51%.

Try to ignore any partisan issues like who currently controls Congress or any legislation currently being debated. I'm asking in a more general sense...do you think the filibuster is generally good or bad?

On the one hand, I think a little gridlock can be a good thing and it forces Congress to moderate its views somewhat. On the other hand, it has the potential to kill off ideas that a majority of senators (and a majority of the people) want to be implemented.

I love it. The Senate is a collegial place, and the filibuster is an important tool to keep it that way.

I think a genuine, old-style, actual filibuster is good. This lame **** they do now, as a routine, matter-of-fact thing is not good.

I think a true filibuster with Robert Byrd leading the oratory would the most entertainment you could ever expect.

A filibuster is one of those things that we hate when something we want doesn't pass and it is something we love to have around when something we don't want doesn't pass.

I nominate Sen Robert Byrd for chairman of the new Filibuster Committee. All filibuster shall be conducted in the style of Robert Byrd.

I like gridlock, so I like the filibuster and think we absolutely need to keep it.

I would possibly watch a wii congressional tournament or a maddens 360 tournament. The filibuster options are endless.

Oh yes! Congressional DDR competition.

Senator Byrd FTW

If somebody asked Sen. Byrd to play Wii, he'd challenge them to a duel for implying that he was a sodomite.
