Is the term "illegal alien" offensive?

I think I'll stick with LAWBREAKER.

After all it's self explanitory.

Yes, to a certain extend, but it doesn't explain what law they've broken. "Illegal alien" or "illegal immgrant" does differentiate between someone who has violated immigration laws and someone who, for example, has jaywalked.

It's an important distinction to make.

I think its kinda offensive, but it will be better to call them Illegal Humans then calling them Aliens and immigrants or whatever.

But it isn't their humanness that makes them illegal. A human clone would currently be illegal. What makes them illegal is their presence in a place they are not legally authorized to be.

Well, they DO have a point, so let's compromise. I am in favor of changing the term "illegal alien" to "undocumented criminal".

I'm in favor of changing it to 'lying sacks of ****'.

Thats too broad of a term. That can apply to lawyers, politicians and other scum.

I would be satisfied with changing their official status to "deported"

This should win some kind of prize for dumbest post of the day. It's also a strong argument against using drugs.

Illegal immigrant is an immigrant that is in America illegally.

Illegal =against the law.

Tell me exactly how someone becomes an illegal human, and what this phrase would mean. Feel free to use paragraphs.

No problem if somebody sneaks in my house through a window or jimmies the lock on my door to be in my house without my permission he is what you could call an illegal human breaking the law.

If someone sneaks into the United States or crosses the border without America knowing they are even here they too become an illegal human breaking the law.

Other immigrants apply for a Visa learn to speak American and take a test to become American, these do not.

You can not serve two masters if you want to be American be American you want to be the citizen of another country be in that country.

That would be like saying that calling a buglar, as buglar; or calling a murderer, a murderer....offensive.

:prof The Knights Buglar were originally commissioned by the Vespoid Catholic Church in the 11th century. They were well known for their Crusades to regain control of the Holy Land (aka. the picnic table)

AS i HAVE SAID ILLEGAL= LAWBREAKER.

If I drive over the speed limit that is illegal ask any cop.

If a person is in America that doesn't belong here that's illegal ask the INS.

How'd that work out, for the knight's burglar?

"Knight's Templar."

And we had other missions as well.

I'd be offended to be called a buglar.
What IS a buglar? Someone who steals bugles? Or is it a bugler who picks his nose? A bungling bungee cord artist who sidelines as a cat burglar who eats too many burgers while playing the bugle? :doh

Or is it a person who bugs other people by stealing hugs?

A person who smuggles rare tropical bugs into the country?

The definition of Buglar has already been explained:
