Nope, controlling calories. Eating whatever they want. Check with lerxst, he is on basically the same program we reccomend.

Its the input vs. output that makes you fat or not. Period.

You can cheat it by doing one of those lo carb diet, but you suffer for it and they don't last.
yes input vs output is 90% of the equation.

the other factors to consider are:

1 - keeping up basal metabolic rate

2 - preserving muscle mass ( which in turn keeps up metabolic rate and soaks up nutrients which would otherwise get stored as fat )

I'm sticking to my guns. It is primarily carbs. Now if you are going to engorge yourself on 5000 calories a day don't be surprised you gain weight - like the guy did in Super Size Me, a lot of those cals were carbs. Carbs are directly converted to glucose which is burned as fuel, directly converted to glycogen and directly converted to fatty acids -> triglycerides. Fat is burned in lipolysis.

    exactly my negroe.

and that is where you have to realize that all this ****ing crap you hear from "experts" is just, well crap.

they were wrong about replacing saturated fat with hydrogenated fat.

they were wrong about their food pyramid that emphasized bread and pasta.

how many times do they need to be dead wrong for you to realize that they are just full of **** ?

just eat natural foods and exercise restraint in the amounts you eat.

A day like today? I'll eat about 5k. I wont care what, just 5k and not gain a lb.

Days like today (I'll be rolling for about 2 hrs, BJJ and have an Ice hockey game), I'll down chocolate milkshake, a chicken parm, lots of fries, and anything else, just to meat my minimum net calorie intake to maintain my current weight.

Carbs is fuel as well, nothing works better for energy in the afternoon/evening than a big plate of french toast with sysup!

    Input-vs-output.

You did say you workout 2-3 hours a day, didn't you? I'd expect you to burn all those carbs.

Me I am struggling to walk 10,000 steps a day (half hour of walking) and am taking in about 2500 cals and low carbing medium. I can't stop going to MickeyDs for breakfast and that's not good for me. Pad thai or other pasta dish is delicious to me.

Re: Is Cooking an Important Skill or just a Great Hobby ?

how could we have been so ****ing stupid as to believe that saturated fat and cholesterol are bad for us when our own body stores energy as saturated fat and our own liver produces 100 times more cholestrol than we eat ?

instead we were convinced by these nutrition experts that we're better off eating essentially plastic ( hydrogenated fat ) which is not found in any form of life except the poor people eating it.

i was young and gullible back then - i thought that information that comes from the government ( FDA ) has some credibility to it. of course now i know better. now i know that 9-11 was an inside job and just what government actually is. also now i know that nutrition books are written to make money not because there is any actual knowledge to be shared.

and even if there was no vile intent its just the fact that 99% of people are stupid as **** which includes 90% of scientists.

would our body really manufacture saturated fat and cholesterol if it was killing us ? is evolution really about favoring those who are most suicidal ? how ****ing stupid did the person have to be to come up with such theory ?

i learned my lesson. i don't trust anything any more. everything is ****ing lies. wake up and smell the coffee !

i been researching nutrition since mid 90s and don't need lessons from random people on the internet.

i avoid the carb sources i mentioned because they spike insulin which leads to diabetes and heart disease. also through building up insulin resistnace they make the body less efficient.

now mayo or sour cream doesn't have those drawbacks but its still relatively empty calories and extremely energy-dense foods. i don't need that garbage in my body thank you very much.

with carbs its not only the amount, but the speed of release that matters. i avoid all high-glycemic carbs like soda but don't mind the low-glycemic carbs like salad.
