Currently the NFL consists of 70% Blacks as players. Should they be doing more to make their playership 'look like America'?

no. maybe white boys should step up their game......?

No, it is as it is. But if we were doing the whole affirmative action thing, then yes.

Racist discrimination hiring practices otherwise known as Affirmative Action is wrong no matter who is doing or who it is befitting.

Hell no. That's absurd.

Of course it is. But I wonder how many people who think the white boys have to step up their game are also supporters of that institution.

okay, we'll let the lesser athletes in and then they'll be cut in training camp. white or black, just like now.

you people are way too serious. this is clearly a post meant to bait, and i'm not playing.

That still doesn't address the disparity in racial composition. We need the NFL to be more representative of America. White people deserve the same chance as blacks to play professional football. Black men's inherent physical superiority affords them an unfair physical advantage over whites. This must be rectified.

I'm sure you have the same attitude towards affirmative action...
oh boy.....does everyone here have wonderful posture, with the assistance of a stick?

you guys must be great fun at parties.

Well, do you?

We NEED the NFL to be entertaining... and that's all.

depends on what type of affirmative action. i think it's a great idea to give students the opportunity to compete at top notch schools, noting that once in, they sink or swim on their merits.

as for other types, that would be a case by case scenario. we both know quotas exist for a reason, because we are NOT color blind. but they aren't always necessary, imo. or at least are becoming less necessary.

There's a serious question about this. Because affirmative action is already in the NFL. When looking for headcoaches, teams MUST interview minority coaches, or get fined. It's a problem because it has been in the past that a team knows what head coach they want for their team. But they have to interview minority applicants. But those applicants know that the team wants person X, so they refuse to interview. Then the team gets hit with a fine.

So why is it that this only goes one way? I would agree in general everything should be decided off of ability, not limited to just players on a field. But whenever anything is said against minorities, or not even against just pointing out statistics or whatever, then it's all of a sudden racist. Rush Limbaugh is a racist because he said McNabb was overrated. Yet Rob Johnson was never taken as one of the best QBs ever, and he has better stats than McNabb and a Super Bowl win. Teams have to interview minority applicants, but they shouldn't have to try to hire more white people to make the demographics reflect society. Pointing out this disparagy is racism. It's an entire double standard that's frankly getting rather annoying. If everything were decided on ability, there's no problem. But if not, then we need to apply things equally. Not just against white people.

Then go play Hockey?

This is racist...
Race does not matter but having skills do matter.

see what you did......you took this straight to rush and racism. that's why i'm not playing. the subject has been exhausted.

Yes it is, and so is affirmative action in all it's forms.

Blacks can stand on their own 2 feet if the government and white guilt appeasers would just let us.

can students who attend sub par schools receiving a sub par education compete for the same university spots as those students attending superior schools?

It's an overall assessment. Just because you can't argue against it doesn't mean you should make things up and run away. It's shows the overall problem. Here we have a league that is 70% black, doesn't reflect demographics. But we're ok with that. If the percentage is reversed, say as it is with NFL coaches (I don't know the actual percentage, but there's more white NFL coaches), then all of a sudden we need criteria based on race. You have to do X in that case. This even penetrates into criticism. The entirety of the double standard, that some endorse (I have a feeling you're one of them) has saturated through. Yet if we think in terms of the reverse (trying to promote more white football players as example), of course people think it to be absurd.

You merely are hunting and pecking for ways out of the argument. "OH noes! I seez Rush in a sentence!!!!! Let's dodge!". But whatever, you can run if you want. But I think the premise of the thread is valid in considering what we should have as base rules and regulations. Are we upholding quotas, or do we base it on performance? If there are quotas involved, it needs to work all ways.

So students with sub par athletics receiving sub par athletic training compete for the same team spots as those students attending superior athletic schools?

Yes. If you can't do it on your own merit you should not ****ing be there!!!! Damn it is not that hard people.

School is what you make of it. I went to inner city schools in Chicago. It was crappy, but I made due. Went to a community college like most people after the Army.

Anything is possible if you have the drive, period.

sigh. has anyone ever complained about THAT?

Yes they have. Thats why we now have the bull**** "everyone is a winner" crap. Can't let little Johnny learn that you have to work to be the best, everything is just given to you.

It is amazing how stupid the majority of people are.
