The big difference here is that Mexico isnt corrupt due to drug use but instead the money and greed that our war on drug has created.

Are you a Mexican? I'am. My family is polical or judicial whatever you want to call it. My aunt is a federal judge, and my uncle is a federal prosecutor and my grandfather was the Chief Justice of Mexico for a time. You need to understand that the government has no control in Mexico. Things are crazy, if you call the police because your home has been burgalized. The police will go and burgarlize you....again. And the people have no respect for the law and it's not a culture where people treat each other good. There are many bad people and many of those bad people get away with their crimes. If you withdraw a large amount of money from the bank, the banker handing you the money will call her friends. And those friends will rob you at gun point when you leave the bank. Those bank robbers are either gang members or cops. There have been many cases where the victim was shot and killed and the body is never recovered. Do you know what its like for the family to go without never knowing what happened to a love one?
And I remember on the highway, these armed robbers robbed a women in front of a lot of other cars AND not to far away was a cop. Did anyone help her? No. They stole her purse and got away and the other drivers continued about their business without offering to help her or stopping and asking if she was ok. Mexico is not a good country to live and not even to visit. My cousin and his friends got burgarlized in the metro three different times in one day. You can't go to the cops. You can't trust anyone around you.
When you are being robbed remember that you give them whatevery they want BUT never get into a car with them and never let them take you anywhere.

Again you don't know Mexico like I do.

Legalising small amounts of drugs is an excellent idea. Minor offenders dont need jailtime and major users need treatment not jail.

None of your analysis supports your conclusion that decriminalizing drugs will lead to more crime.
    Are you coming to bed?

I was talking about Mexico being a chithole. Especially DF. But really crime here in the states isn't too bad and I don't see how drugs being legal in small amounts would hurt. But it would hurt if it were legal and accepted. People in the US are spoiled. I said that and meant that. The government protects them from just too much. You don't get that in Mexico.
I did say though that it was the governments responsibility to preserve order. And I really think that drug legalization would lead to more crime because those gangbangers are going to be making money how? By committing more violent acts. I know thats a bad analysis. Its just the way I see it.

because those gangbangers are going to be making money how? By committing more violent acts.
Actually, they will have to go out and get real jobs because their black market revenue stream will be dry. Especially if Coke, H and Meth are legalized along with Pot. There should be a reduction in violent crime.

Why would the gangbangers make more money if drugs were legal? I guarantee that legitimate shops would drive them out of business within a year or two. If I was a drug user, why would I risk buying my drugs from a shady criminal when I could buy it from an actual business?

No, it's not legal to smoke it, you note they didn't LEGALIZE drugs, they just DECRIMINALIZED them. There is a difference. It means that within a certain narrow guideline, the police won't bother to arrest you if that's the only thing you're doing wrong. However, if you're also doing other things, they can still charge you with possession and use of drugs. It's still illegal, there's just a set of conditions under which they'll turn a blind eye.
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.
