Re: Flu Shot question, part Deux

The only time I'd accept a government mandated shot is if we were subject to biological warfare and faced with a 99% deadly, engineered strain of something. Until then, I'd take the fine.

I'm not universally against vaccinations. Many of the traditional vaccinations like tetanus-diptheria, polio, and TB have had great success and the modern risk to having them is low. Something like the flu vaccine is so industry-driven and, in my view, manufactured without sufficient medical trials; it has reached such levels that industry pressure to sell the flu vaccines is overriding rational policy making. I mean, who wants to get Guillain-Barré syndrome just from a desire to be protected from the flu?

Would you agree with the government mandating that flu shots MUST be taken or, if you don't, you get fined some nominal amount.
    I'll accept the fine.

Or the shot proven to kill fewer people than the flue itself

They're not free, though. Nothing is. Someone, somewhere, is picking up the tab. I assume you?

Or is Obama using his "stash"?

I am going to say no, except in the case of the health care workers, hell maybe even school kids, I wouldn't have a problem with that being added to the list of mandatory vaccinations.

No government will ever tell me that I have to give my kid a vaccination. I'll pack up my things and leave town that same day.

Your odds of dying from the flu (even if you have a healthy immune system and no other aggravating conditions) are much higher than your odds of contracting GBS from the vaccine, let alone dying from it.
    Are you coming to bed?
    I can't. This is important.

If you live in the United States, and send your kids to school, then they do. All states have mandatory vaccination laws. They all have medical exemptions, and some have religious or philosophical exemptions, but unless you qualify for, or declare an exemption, your kid must be vaccinated to attend school.
