I believe we should with the exception of gender in gender specific jobs. Why should the government require a person to identify themselves by race or gender when applying for jobs, loans, census, ect? Is this not keeping the idea that we should be identified by such things in our society and also keeping the way society views people differently based on such things?

It should be irrelevant when applying for anything. A person should base their decision on merits alone and race/gender should not be a factor.
For government jobs and government loans, I agree. For the census, I disagree. That's just collected for statistical information and it can have useful sociological purposes.

Those sociological studies are nothing but racially collectivist.

If we stopped specifying race on the census, the it would be impossible to racially gerrymander voting districts. The Dems ain't gonna let that happen.

As to the question in the OP, I think race specification on applications should be ended. I've always put caucasion, myself.

No it wouldn't. Congressmen have a pretty good idea of their district's demographics, even if they don't have the actual census numbers.

Not only do you turn a decent discussion into yet another partisan bitchfest, but you misidentify the party which benefits from such tactics.
    Well done, sir.

That's not true for places like New Orleans, where the racial demographics have changed.

It's a political debate forum. Why is it you only cry about it when Libbos/Dems are getting slammed? Truth hurt too much for ya?

OK well that's an exception to the rule, since most cities don't lose half their population in 10 years. Besides, New Orleans only has one congressional district, so this is a moot point.

It's not about losing population, it's about one demographic growing faster than another.

Do you understand the difference between political debate and partisan trolling?

Again, why is it that you only bring these accusations when Dems are being picked on?

How many resumes still ask for race?
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet the Makeout Hobo, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).
