Your thoughts
The government is not living within its means and that does not bode well for the nation.
I think it's pretty rare for our government to ever live within its means.
I'm no economist but it seems to me living beyond our means is more of national tradition than a short term exception. You can only do that so long before the house of cards collapses.
My thoughts are that any so called 'improvement' resulting from the infusion of Federal money, from either the Bush or Obama administration, will be a short term shot artificial boost, not any sort of long term solution.

That doesn't change anything. We started doing it seriously after WWII when we became a world power by default, we had never been attacked and we had an incredible infrastructure that we built to fight the war. After the war, lots of people had lots of money and we spent like mad. The problem is, when the situation changed, when we were no long the undisputed #1 nation, we still kept spending like drunken sailors. It's one thing to spend extra when times are good, it's another to expect everyone to keep spending like there's no tomorrow when times are bad and that's exactly what we've been doing for years. In fact, in the past 40 years, we've built our entire national economy on people spending more than they had and now it's coming home to roost.
Any recovery we have that doesn't include a permanent reduction in our overspending is only putting off the inevitable.
Sorry but when I hear all the GOP/Fox News railing against spending & deficits, I chalk it up to pure partisan politics. The people who never voiced any concern about how we were going to pay for U.S. policies for the last 8 years have suddenly found their (long-lost) fiscal responsibility....... just in time to oppose a Democratic President?....I say BS :thumbdown
All government spending is not the same & we are finally spending on things that will actually help middle class Americans.
He was making a point against what he perceives as excess spending now. Did he make the same point when Bush was spending like a drunken sailor too? If he did then he is not being obviously partisan. If he didn't then my point stands. (& "times were not good" when Bush was in office unless you were an Exxon-Mobil executive or the ex-CEO of Haliburton.....Remember..we practically went into the 2nd Great Depression B4 Obama got into office))What does this have to do with Cephus or his point?

Then this thread is not aimed at you. You are consistent & not a partisan.Or for those of us who strongly opposed it when Bush did it too?
No one is claiming Obama is a savior except Fox News & I disagree with your opinions about Obama not helping the middle class & bankrupting our country.Obama isn't the savior and he's certainly not doing anything to help the middle class, he's bankrupting the country. Granted, we're not going to have to pay for it, that'll fall to our children and grandchildren and who cares about them anyhow, right?
Why don't you tell how liberal you feel? :lol:Then this thread is not aimed at you. You are consistent & not a partisan.

Here's the guy you are thinking of: (the guy on the left)
