I work the streets.

Actually, no. I'm a student, but that's no excuse. I've applied everywhere and it's sort of a catch-22 thing where nobody wants to hire me since I'm not experienced, and I'm not experienced because nobody wants to hire me.

Oh yeah, I know the feeling. All jobs seem to want experince, but how can you get a job to get the experience if all the jobs want experience?

Yes. And, paying my way through an Open University Degree.

I hate being young and with my whole life ahead of me!!

No.

Well, I hated living on welfare and my sick parents disability payments because no-one would hire me. Being young doesn't mean you can live on fresh air, surprisingly enough.

Nope. Got myself fired for scaring my coworkers and my doctor said he'd rather see me applying for disability than trying to get another job.
who besides a newborn could find our Rat scary???
Retired, before that, on disability; I was a mental basket case.
what is with the past tense ? ;)

self employed in 1 job, 2 employees in my 2nd business. Both are struggling, Big Time
Unemployment in my county, and the one to the north, though lower than DP , is at 12%

my son just moved back in with me and he spent weeks trying to get a delivery job. Finally had to settle at a 'carry-out' only Little Caesar's. I was like, WTF, they don't deliver  Since he already managed a PizzaHut they were happy to hire him to make pizza's :(

Consider the military.

Consider the military.

I wanted to join the army, I scored at the top of the test they had me take and there are many opportunities for advancement through the military, but my knee is messed up and they wont let me enlist :(

I wonder if the Air Force physical would be as stringent.

Consider the military.

I couldn't join the military. I'm not willing to take that level of risk just toearn a living, and in terms of morality, I disagree with the majority of the military's recent excursions. I couldn't be part of something like that and still feel comfortable in myself.

I have to say this was another major contributor to my decision. I believe a national defense is THE most important role of our government and I support the resent "excursions" being they are working to make sure a war is fought on other turf than our own, but due to recent revisions of war policy the military's hand have been tied by the liberal revisions to rules of engagement that are a main contributor to the monumental increase in american casualties on the Afghan front. I also feel sorry for our boys in the national guard and the possibilities of what they may be asked to do in the future...

I work as a freelancer either by being temporarily employed (salary) or bill my clients through the micro enterprise which I own.

Can't even begin to tell you how complicated my tax declarations are having both the independent and the employee status.

I'm sorry to hear that, and its sad that you can only expect worse in the future.

I've been managing the situation quite well actually.

I do have all the benefits of health care and when I work as an employee I get unemployment compensations during the months in which I don't work.

The big problems is though, that there are less and less jobs in the press and I'm getting less and less calls which is worrying me.

I'm about to begin a multimedia training course though because the whole press is shifting toward the internet, hoping to get a full time job and drop the freelance situation.

I'm honestly not interested in making loads of money. Just enough to be able to pursue my career which I love and have been pursuing for the past 25 years.

That's how I feel.
I just want to do a job that I'm comfortable with, that I feel benefits others, and that I enjoy going to each day.
The pay is terrible, but I've been at the same job for three years now; I've gotten a couple of small raises. I'm nearly capped out, and probably won't ever make much more than I do now. That's okay, though.
I keep resisting my boss's well-meaning suggestions about steps I need to take so I can move out of my position and into administration.
I don't want to.
I like what I'm doing and don't really care about money.
This concept is utterly foreign to her, and she can't comprehend it at all.
So I've gotten to the point that I just respond to her suggestions with, "I'd be terrible in administration."
Now she thinks I've got low self-esteem, but oh well.

LOL, I can understand that perfectly well. I'd rather make little money and be happy than to suffer in comfort :)
