If you had actually made an argument, I would have addressed it. All you did was post precisely what someone who knows little about Rogerian therapy would...often a first year college student majoring in psyc. I was there and did the exact same thing. Then I read and learned and now understand that Rogerian theory goes far beyond the simplistic information you provided. My suggestion to you stands. Do some reading before you just speak in standard uninformed rhetoric. Then you would understand that what you described is NOT what happens in Rogerian therapy.

There is a theory that most shrinks are as messed up as their patients and this is why they picked the profession to start with.

I been in single & group therapy and neither helped me much

I have a hunch you might confuse Esmeralda, although you could rock yourself to sleep on the couch

Nah, that's a myth. Most therapists went into the field because they enjoy working with and helping people. It would be difficult for a someone to be a good therapist if they were as messed up as their patients.

That's a shame. Probably means you didn't find the right person/group. Sometimes finding someone who can be of help is the most difficult part. Nothing can replace a solid therapeutic relationship. That's why Rogerian therapy has been so important.
