If you truly believe that healthcare/food/shelter are rights, then you should do everything you can to ensure that others have those rights. There are millions of people starving to death who could be saved by you donating to help them. If you really believe that these are fundamental human rights, then you have a moral obligation to donate everything beyond what you need to live in order to help these people.
If you're not willing to do that, then you're just telling yourself you give a **** because you want to make yourself feel better about your refusal to give up your nice life.
Whether I give a **** or not is up to others to say - the ones that know me, that is. You don't know me, so you don't count.
Anyway, this isn't about me. This is about Americans being given the opportunity to see to it that other / all Americans have their quality of life improved through UHC. Perhaps someone can start a thread on whether "quality of life" is a right, as well - and add it to all the other nonsense questions that people don't seem to have the common sense / decency to know for themselves.
Like a sea of people with their hearts sucked out and who don't know the laws / the way of "human decency" - who don't know how to emulate / don't know how to be closer to their god by doing the right / by doing what would be the generous / benevolent / "sacred" thing to do.
The complaints and whining against UHC are oceans apart from behaviour even remotely godlike or sacred.
At the end of the day, I seriously don't think God will discriminate between those that claim to be religious... and those claiming not to be. In the final summation, God will judge our actions, how we treated our fellow man / woman... and will take a look to see what we have in our hearts... will look for our intent towards others. And will even look to see how we regard those others that fall by hard times and can't afford health care. If we continue to rubbish people that are down and out, that cannot afford health care, then God will most likely turn around and rubbish us, too.
Oh, the guns to the head, and the rest of the bluster of lunatics trying to shutdown UHC. The devil would be so proud the way some people are begrudging others a better quality of life.
34 years of UHC in Australia... and the sky hasn't fallen down. The ocean hasn't devoured us...
If the maniacs through their bluster stop UHC from getting through, it will be a sorry day. To those who whinge and whine and begrudge others receiving a better quality of life through UHC, I'd say that your line to God is stuffed, kaput, and no longer works. You must be talking to yourselves... cos God would shout down the lot of you and dress you down for your bluster and whining over UHC. How do I know? Bloody common sense, that's all.
If you can't tell the difference between a right and a wrong... if you have to ask what a "right" is - and then have to refer to dictionaries and constitutions... then you obviously don't know the reason that you were given a heart and a mind for.
Pathetic.
