No. They have a right to sign anyone thery want.
[quote=SicSemperTyrannis;1058200965]Actually the Stallworth case is very cut and dry. He had a BAC of .126 and was speeding and possibly running a red light when he hit the victim, who may or may not have been in the crosswalkHe quote]
No "may or may not have been". The facts were agreed upon. He ran in front of Stallworth's car. Running a red light? Conjecture not in evidence. What you fail to see is that the court has prove Stallworth's actions caused the guy's death. That's how it works. Tough to prove you killed someone when they ran in front of your car, eh? Reasonable doubt a little?
Already explained.Vick was charged with dogfighting, Stallworth with DUI manslaughter. Vick gets a year in jail, Stallworth 30 days. I don't understand how you don't see a problem with this.
Vick's case wasn't as cut and dry as you think. No one knows how many dogs Vick actually tortured and killed himself, or how many were done by his associates on his property (which he is still held responsible for). The Feds say he killed 7 dogs but that number is disputed by many (some say he only 2 or 3 dogs). As I said repeatedly, I'm not condining dogfighting. All I'm saying is that I find it hard that out justice system can sentence someone to a year in jail for alledgedly killing 7 dogs but gives someone 30 days for getting hammered, speeding, and ramming into someone, killing him.
Already explained. It's quite simple.
Maybe. But it's not that rare. You don't live down south, do you?My belief: Dogfighting is a rare crime and Vick was a star QB (although I think he was pretty overrated) and the Feds wanted to make an example of him.
Plus, the guy ran in front of his car! The dogs did not wrap a noose around their necks and jump off a tree.DUI is a fairly common crime committed and Donte Stallworth is a nobody who had one good year in Philly, so no need to make an example out of him. This is absolute appeasement to the PETA animal rights crowd. Horrible job handling both cases by the court system.
Wow. Am I awesome or what?
Can you please link me to a story that says the guy blatantly ran out in front of the car?? Because everything I have heard was all speculative. Some said he was running to get a bus, others said he was in the road and Stallworth didn't brake. I have yet to come across a report that says the dude jumped in front of Stallworth's car. And I live in New York City, I'm sure there is plenty of dogfighting up here. Just not as common as DUI related deaths. Stallworth should have gotten at least5-10 for DUI manslaughter in the 1st degree. Vick should have gotten 30 days in jail. I know that is not law or precedent, but that's what we need to change in this country.

You're the one who used it, not me. Just struck me that of all the idioms you could pick,...........I guess I'll just chalk it up to..........happenstance.
